Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Played the back 9 this morning at my local muni, shot +9 bogey golf. Bad driver on a few holes followed up by a few pushed/skulled wedge shots = brutal golf.

Is that $12 for the day? And I believe this is the Goodrich? I played there much earlier this season, man it was in bad shape... I hope it's come around since then.

Yes Goodrich and yes it is $12 for the day, sorry, that was a sloppy sentence.

I've never played their course.

Yah, I figured it had to be per day, but at first I was thinking you meant for the summer which would be pretty incredible.

It's not a bad muni course, although I'd rather play Keller or Manitou if I'm down there. But the greens earlier this year were exceptionally bad, even for MN greens in May.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Here we go again. I have gone from 'excellent ball striking' to 'feeble whimpers' in two weeks time. It is a complete disaster. I suddenly reverted to my old swing and am swaying up and out of it. This makes it impossible to deliver the club back to the ball and the results are laughable.

I hit a whopping 3 greens in regulation today and shot 81. I was playing a course in Michigan with some long time members. They laughed as I played number 10 down the 11th fairway, then number 11 down the 10th fairway, then hit my tee ball OB on 12. On number 13 I bounced my tee shot off a tree into a hazard. On number 17 they all agreed they had never seen someone hit a drive so far right. I was 220 yards off the tee, but in the fairway of the 5th hole. I then had to stripe a 4-iron with a big hook that hit a tree and fell into the rough greenside where I got up and down for a par. A real comedy routine...even while I finished off the last 5 holes in even par with one gir.

Well tomorrow I am playing in Ann Arbor on a not nearly as forgiving course - from tees set at around 6,850 yards(the course I played today was 6,000). This is going to be a real treat.

I am about to strap into the "Pivot Maker" as a last resort. It is an old swing training device I just pulled out of the attic. Lord help me.

51 + 53 = 104 for 26 stableford

Still quite a bit from being there, but it feels so much better now. 5 putts where in the hole but came out again, 2 putts stopped less than an inch from the hole.

Was quite unlucky today, but still made a decent score.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

37-42 on a 36/36. I think my skipping breakfast and not eating on the course might have something to do with my back 9's falling apart the last few rounds. I don't feel tired, but my misses are almost always left as the round progresses...

Fun hole : The 555 DL right par 5 ninth is generally not reachable due to length and trees, but I played with a local who used the #18 fairway to shorten the hole. I feel stoopit for never having thought of that, and ended up with a fairly tame 5 iron in... and for once I didn't three put a long one.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Played 9 holes on a par 31 executive course this morning. Shot a 38. Must be improving this year. I think I shot a 43 on it earlier in the year. And at the very start of the year would have been closer to 48 prob.

1 birdie on a 185 par 3 over water. Put it to 15ft, and 1 putted. Also sunk a 50ft chip to save par on one hole. Went out with my 13 y/o cousin. He embaresed me finishing 1 under par, and eagled the 1st hole.

Should have finished a bit better. Drove beside the green on 9. Par 4 265. Th4en somehow ate up 5 shots and got a double boogie. meh :/

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Played the front nine today, got 11 stableford, not quite where I need to be, but the wind was blowing pretty hard, got in a couple of bad situations costing me a bit too much.

But I am still very confident about the work I've done on my swing lately.

Planning on playing tomorrow and both sat and sun.

Here is a familiar story to many of you. We arrived at the course early this morning and I went directly to the driving range. I was relaxed and began drilling my driver with a nice low ball flight. My swing was controlled and smooth. Four, five nice drives. Okay let's go get 'em.

On the course and here comes the fade. Face open at impact, high fade that hits the fairway with about 200 yards of carry. Start pressing. Ugh. I wound up shooting 83 from the tees set at 6,850 yards. My play from 150 yards and in was solid as hell. My play with driver and any subsequent shots of 175 yards plus was girlish.

Any ladies in the golf forum?

What course in ann arbor?

Anyways I am really going downhill past few rounds. I changed my driver a bit, and its a break even/lose situation imo.. I have started to hit a fade with my driver, nothing huge, maybe 5-10 yards. I lose alot of distance, as I get absolutly no roll. I avg drive with this swing about 265-275, where as with a solid draw its 290+ or so. The good thing is is I am hitting more fairways, but its stopping me from having more wedges, which is my strong game, and hitting par 5's in 2 more often.

But anyways my round today, I hit i think 10 fairways, but couldnt hit any irons for ****, as well as putt.

I need to hit the range, and work on everything, and just re-focus my game a bit.

I think the worse round I have had in 3 years or so.
My regular course which is pretty easy. 43-42

I am going to try and upload a swing video tomorrow or sometime.

i think it was a really bad winter for greens around here because i couldn't find a course with decent greens this spring. played at 6-8 courses (a few are usually very well kept) in april and may, all of them had nasty greens with dead spots

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Almost at the conclusion of my immersion back into golf, I played one of the toughest courses in the state (for me), Saddle Rock GC... 7351/140 yards of elevation changing, 20mph wind gusting target golf. Shot 42-41 and feel lucky to have done that well given the conditions. Only took the driver out 3 times on the par 5s, and used the 5hybrid two other times.

I hit 3 iron on at least 4 holes above 400, which is something I never would have done in the past. I feel like my course management is getting a lot better, and for the first time ever I'm starting to think about the hole from green to tee box, instead of the other way around.

I think I might bring the 2 and/or 1 iron back out if I play that course again. I feel a lot more comfortable teeing off with that over my hybrid.
