Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Landed a 155yd draw PW about 7yds short (hard greens), bounce...roll...no drop. Grrr! Today was the closest I've ever come...oddly enough. I've had many nearly lip-out, but this probably had ~50% chance.

OMG Bonds I know what you mean.
I played a par 70 layout today. Beautiful morning. And I had the worst ball striking round of the season. I hit zero, ZERO greens in regulation!
Shot 80.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Yikes. Did 23 stableford. Though the front nine (except hole 1 which I fubared) was ok 43 strokes + whatever I might have gotten on 1. Then all fell apart.
Brag: hole 3, nice drive right down the middle. Had about a 6 iron into the green, but was in front of a tree in the middle of the fairway. I thought, hey my 6i is going over that tree. Sure it did, perfect shot to the green, left me a 15 footer for birdie, which I nailed.

You detected my poorly disguised brag.
I got up and down ten times for par. One three putt for double bogey!
Two holes were funny sort of:
Hole 7 - par 5.
Faded drive into the right rough. Try to cut over the dogleg, mi**** a 5-iron that dropped right into the center of a fir tree. Penalty stroke for unplayable lie and head 40 yards back into the fairway for my drop. 8-iron over the tree to ten feet. Par.
Hole 12 - par 5.
This one plays 550 yards. Another poor faded drive into the right rough. Solid 3-iron to 108 yards out in the center of the fairway. Dead shank with a wedge into the trees luckily dropping into a playable spot. 35 yards SW to four feet. Par.
Hooooooooha!

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Finally played like I knew I could. Didn't drive particularly well, but kept the tee shots in play, hit irons solid, and had 0 three putts. Shot 38 (36), 37 (34) for a 5 over 75. Easy game. For now.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Played University Ridge Which is the University of Wisconsin's golf course. Of the 4 "on campus" courses I've played, this was the best (UNC, Duke, MD are the others in order from best to worst, though all were good). Greens were tough, but fair. Course can be had, but will grab you if you spray a shot. Lots of elevation change, has to be a monster from the tips. The front 9 is all open, the back 9 is in the woods. Great practice facilities.
Front nine, shot 38 with 2 birdies, 2 lost balls, and a 3 putt. Made a 50 footer for par on a hole where I lost a ball. Very schizophrenic side ball striking wise.
Back nine I got a little tired, shot 43 with a double and a bunch of bogies.
Really worth the play if you are in the area.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Gawd, played an short course par 71 @ 6200 yards with ridiculously fast and small greens. Shot 46-49, which is almost twenty strokes worse than I shot yesterday at a 7500yd course.
The good thing is I'm finally hitting the ball like I used to before the 5 year layoff. The bad thing is that my short game is atrocious. I had 3 eagle putts totaling about 150 feet, and three-jacked them all. Six... yes SIX, three putts over 18. Plus various bogeys from being <100 yds away from a GiR. Lost my 60 degree on hole 5 and the round went to hell from there, so I guess I can use that as an excuse.
The highlight of my round was a glorious 8 on a 530 yard par 5 where I managed to hit two tee shots OB. The first was just a bad swing, but the second kicked off a tree just off the fairway and landed about 10 feet OB... At least I didn't lose the ball.
I hate this game!

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Played 23 holes in our skins game at Coyote Creek in a semi-hurricane, 4 over with 2 birdies. Striped my irons all day but was wild once again with the driver, missed a half dozen birdie putts of less than 10 feet, including one from 3 feet that hit something and bounced straight in the air, missing the hole completely. I say this a lot, but my game is coming around and I feel like I'm getting very close to being able to go very low.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
Played a late nine, shot a 1 over par 35 (no par fives). Getting some real confidence in my game, stepping up to every tee box thinking birdie. 4 pars, 3 bogies, 2 birdies. Highlight was on the 235 yard par 3 when I struck a perfect hybrid and stuck it to pin height 8 feet to the right. Nailed the putt with confidence after practicing on the green for 20 minutes before I played.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
West Middlesex 69 6127
30 stablford points
Started with a mulligan that didn’t make it to the ladies tee. In my defence it was an early start after a week of having a cold and not getting enough sleep but overall I played poorly although my putting was an improvement on last time out.
2 Blobs, 3 Triples, 3 Doubles, 5 bogies, 4 Pars (Inc the hardest hole on the course) 6/18 Fairways, 2/18 GIR, 30 putts (from 16 greens)
Interestingly one of the guys I was playing with pitched in twice. Both times to make bogies on holes he was completely ****ing up. On one par three he landed in the water spotted his ball tried to play it, left it in there then got it out at the second attempt then chipped in.
