Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

snow mountain @ paiute in las vegas, nv

41-39 (80)

started off 2 under through 3, then double, then bogied out. played the back with a mix of bogey and pars, and eagled a wedge from 123 out into a slight head wind on par5 #17.

my group usually only has 1 game going on (cart game, nassau something like that) but today we had two and i won them both!

fun day for me.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

90 (42, 48) yesterday at Pheasant Acres in Corcoran, MN. 30 MPH winds, a lot of holes facing the wind, makes it tough.

Very bad start on the back 9, found a 20'x10' water hazard on 10 (like the smallest ****ing water hazard in existence) and ended up duffing two chips, and took a quad to start off. The round was over then. Took a triple on a 200 yard par 3 that was playing like 250 with the sick wind. Then, I hit a straight drive (aimed bad) OB on the next hole, and made quad there, as I hit a provisional OB, and was hitting my 6th. Two holes later I went in the water twice on the par 5 15th, and actually made double.

Coming into 18 (365 yard par 4) we decided to do a longest drive. I hit an awesome tee shot w/ a slight draw about 315-320, and ended up in the 8" into second cut, didn't count, missed fairway. (seriously!?!?) That was my best hole on the back 9.

The back nine just murdered my round. I got very unlucky on three or four holes, and took two quads, a triple, and a double, and just killed my score.

I easily could have shot an 85. Oh well, my ball striking was on, the wind was brutal, and I found a few key placed hazards.

42. Considering that I had two 8s, it could have been a lot worse.

Hopefully I gained a little insight as to why my putting has gone to hell lately.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

97 at Perth Golf Club (par 70). The front nine was pretty good, after a couple of double bogies, I parred three straight, then took a 9 on the sixth - drove left behind trees, second shot was meant to be a lay-up but went long into water, fourth shot I pulled out my 6 iron instead of my 9 by mistake and hit into the top of a downward sloping bunker behind the green, took 5 more to get down from there. Then went par-bogey-bogey for 46.

Back 9 wasn't great, except for 14, where I had a super drive, then nearly holed out from the fairway and had a 4-inch tap-in for birdie, and 15, a par 3 where I managed to get a sand wedge to within two feet from a severe sidehill lie in thick grass just behind the green. I needed those two holes after 13, where I couldn't seem to make contact with any more than the top third of the ball and bashed it around for a 10.

Putting was good, no 3-putts for the first time in a long time, and made a couple of 10-12 foot par putts. Ball-striking was more consistent. Short game was good with the sand wedge, mediocre to poor otherwise.

94 FML. Missed 6 straight par putts within 10 feet.
I'm a good putter, I just can't make a putt.

god i remember this course slightly. Played there a couple years ago. But I mostly remember playing bedford valley out that way.

What part of mich you from?

The other day I went out and played the tips at a fairly nice course. I usualy like to play about 6500 yds, but tips here were just over 7k, which is pretty tough.

Played like **** to start. shot 42 on front and 38 on back.

I'm living in Portage for another month, before I move to the Chicago 'burbs. I am making the tour around the area trying to play as many courses as I can before I move. Haven't played Bedford Valley or any of the Gull lake courses yet. I'm not from here, just spent a year teaching at WMU.

Shot 86 from the 7100 yard black tees at San Juan Oaks in Hollister, CA. Wind was howling between 20-30 mph making it very difficult. I struggled with a swing change but hit it ok considering. Played with a high school sophomore who hits it a mile and shot 75 without making a putt longer than 5 feet, very impressive.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

shot 46 (15 putts) in a morning round of 9 today. this breaks my best score on the front of this track by 2 shots, and i played from the blues, whereas i normally play whites.

3 doubles, 4 bogeys, and only 2 pars. but NO TRIPLES and only 1 three-putt! kept every hole in play. putted way better, although made some dumb mental mistakes while using the putter from the fringe. i normally have 18-20 putts.

edit: oh yes, DID NOT LOSE A BALL! go me.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

My 2nd 9 holes of the year, on a mixed league at a dogtrack par3. Hooked everything. I aimed my PW 5 yards right of a green 125 yds away, and watched it hook 10yds. left of the green. My short game is horrendous, especially chipping. Putting was hard to tell since the greens are as soft as a mattress and just as lumpy. Shot a lovely 39, 2nd low in our 4-some to my wife's 36. The other two people were a 75-year old lady who shot 40, and her legally-blind husband. He shot 42. I lined him up on a 110yd hole when I told him to "aim at the porta-crapper", which was bright white and directly behind the green, so he could sort-of see it. He bounced his 5-iron onto the green directly at the pin, it lipped out and spun 18" away. I made him putt it. He missed.

followed up my morning round with an even better one at twilight during my stableford league. 5 pars, 2 bogeys, 2 doubles for a 42! 17 putts. together, morning and round basically have me shooting an 88 (i understand it's two different courses and doesn't count like that, but hey BEST EVER!).

again didn't lose a ball. had a bunch of net birdies and a net eagle, good enough for +17 modified stableford points. i do believe we should see some money from it next week.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Nice job sylar. I've fired a few 42's myself in the first couple rounds this season, feels good to shoot sub par golf doesn't it?
