17th was routine par 3, hit 8 iron 20'ish feet away and two putted.

On 18 I just had to get a 10 to break 80 (normally wouldn't care that much but I had a fairly sizable bet with my friend that I could break 80, so I hit like driver, 9 iron, 9 iron short of the par 5 (lol). The parking lot is past the green that I think counted as OB too, so same story as before. Left a pitch short, chipped and 2 putts later...
Yessir! Your story reminds me of why I long ago mastered the half-swing 8-iron!

Played Bayou Barriere for the first time. Fairways and bunkers weren't in great shape, but the greens were very good for the price ($16 to walk 18 holes). Made a mess of the front nine. Hit the ball decently on the back but couldn't putt worth a damn.

Shot a 53-50, 103 on Penn State Blue Course. Started bogey-par-par, and that included a missed 4 foot putt on hole #1. A fairly tough course for me though. 70.6/135 from the whites. Came apart near the turn as I hit my drive OB on #7 and topped my provisional about 8 yards lol. What a mess..

Other tidbit: Seen Penn State football assistant coach (and former QB), Mike McQueary in the pro shop before my round.

43-45-88. Played lousy, got lousy breaks. I suck. 2 birdies, 3 doubles, 1 triple. I didn't track my stats but they were horrible.

Went back out, shot 40 (par 37). 5/7 fairways, 5/9 greens, 16 putts. 1 birdie, 1 double due to a lost ball.

I think I'm just cursed with putting. I took out a demo for my reround and it went OK. Came to the last hole which is a beast - 430 yard dogleg right, heavily treed. I hit one of my best drives of the year then stripe a 4 iron to 12 feet. I hit the putt pure. It tracks for the center of the hole. Speed is good, not too fast. Looks perfect. It hits the back of the hole, clanks off the cup liner and pops up and out. Jesus ****ing keerist.

On a related note, the Odyssey White Ice insert is >>>>>>>>>>>>>> White Hot XG.

43-41-84 at Rustic Canyon in Moorpark, CA. Played super twilight (walking) at 4:30 like I usually do and normally I play holes 1-12 and then over to the 18 tee box for 1 final hole before dark. Today was different because I was sent out alone with 4 holes clear in front of me and was able to knock those out quickly. Caught up to a 2 some in cart on 5 and we were making enough good time by the end of 12 to keep on going. Front 9 was very typical for me (+7) Back nine looked like this:

Hole 10: Even on par 5

Hole 11: +1 on par 4. (10 & 11 blow me up regularly, so I was happy to get through both +1 total)

Hole 12: Even on par 4.

Hole 13: +1 on par 5 (should have been a par).

Hole 14: +1 on par 4.

Hole 15: -1 on par 3. I hit into the rough by about 2" at the back of the green but manage a surprising hole out with the putter. This is a nasty undulating 3 tiered green so leaving the pin in saved my ass.

Hole 16: +2 on a par 4. Poor tee shot, 2nd shot OB, 4th to the green, 2 puts.

Hole 17: 161 yd. par 3, slightly down hill. Hit my 8 iron almost pin high but a little short to the left.

http://www.rusticcanyongolfcourse.co...ry/2005_04.jpg

Ball rolls about 6 feet towards the hole and I'm immediately thinking birdie putt, I lose sight of the ball and the 2 guys I joined start yelling behind me and coming at me with high 5's, I look back to the green and see nothing, turn back to the guys and deliver high 5's and a big WOOOOOOO!!!!!, look back at the green to double check, and then see the group in front just having left the green yelling too. That confirmed it for me.

F YEAH!!! Hole in 1. My first ever. A unique, awesome feeling that almost has me shaking going to 18. I put that ball away thinking that I'll probably spray my last tee shot OB.

Hole 18: +3 on par 4, but who cares. I knew I wouldn't completely calm down and didn't. I do hit that tee shot OB, re-tee, chump my 4th, 5th to the green and 2 puts.

That's pretty cool you caught up to a couple guys so the moment was shared!

I think it'd be weird to get one if you were alone.

Congrats on the hole in one!

42-40-82. Played a different course today, par is 37-35-72.

Got off to a rough start - made triple on the first hole, a par 4, after having my second shot spin just off the front. Five shots from thirty feet. Jeez. Then I three putted the second hole from about 8 feet. Righted the ship from there and played decently. No birdies.

ughhhhh had the most frustrating round of my entire life today. I thought I had fixed my swing, and through 4 holes I played awesome and it seemed fixed, but after that I went right back to slicing it like 100 yards left while hitting it 100 yards forward. Played the first four holes 1 over, 5 total putts. Ended the round shooting 100 and actually broke my putter (A new one was on the way before the round started, and knowing that definitely made me Bo Jackson it over my knee after my putt on 18 for show cuz I hate that POS). Shot 49-51-100. Guy I was playing with also made a 49 on the front and then we all decided to bet since we didnt know the guy. He shot a 1 over on the back and won every single skin. If there were babies here right now id prob strangle them tbh.

Havent played or practised for a couple of weeks then got sixteen holes in just before it got dark. Very shaky all my old problems came back.
It's no use knowing what you do wrong I actually need to go out and practice what I have paid to be taught.

Just got back into Golf last 3 weeks. First game back shot 88 and was well happy with it, there was loads of missed chances.

Next round shot 95 and was disgusted, any time i used a wood the ball was lost. Putting was shocking lost all confedence

Last 3 rounds been pretty much Irons and 3 Hybrid, worked on grip and putting and scores are back in the low 80's. Yesterday shot 39 - 45 (84) Sicking thing was i pulled the dam driver out, shot an 8 on the front on an easy par 5.

Back 9 struggled with tees shots going left, didnt have many birdie chances on the back compared to the front (got 3 out of 5)

Great to be playing again

Back in action...

40-38-78 this morning. Perfect conditions.

Had a nice back nine today...

10) Par 5. Hit driver into the trees left, 4-iron low hook runner down the fairway, 8-iron to 20 feet, two putts par.

11) Par 4. Nice drive out about 265, 7-iron to 20 feet, two putts par.

12) Par 5. First drive OB, third shot 265 down the middle <sigh>, 3-wood, PW to thirty feet, rolled it straight in for bogey!

13) Par 4. Only 275 yard hole. Driver to two steps off the front right, PW to two feet, birdie!

14) Par 4. 4-iron off the tee leaves 155 in, but slice required around overhanging trees. Best shot of the day 7-iron fade onto the green. Nearly holed bomb for birdie, settled for par.

15) Par 3. Playing 190 yards I hit 4-iron, pulled left, hits trees but bounces back in play. SW on from 50 yards, two putts bogey.

16) Par 4. Nice drive, SW onto green. Two putts par.

17) Par 4. Nice drive, 7-iron just short, 52 wedge to three feet, par.

18) Par 3. Playing 185 yards I hit 4-iron pulled OB left! Next 4-iron lands on back fringe, two putts double.

Yup. I shot +3 on the back nine with two tee shots OB!

45-39-84 at Blythefield CC in Grand Rapids. First time I'd ever played there. Nice old school track.

Let me tell you it was sweeeeet to putt decent greens instead of the slow, bumpy, poa-infested pieces of **** that I usually see.

First time in a while I had back to back birdies. Of course there was a bunch of suck too but overall it was too nice a day to get hung up on the negative.

First time out since my injury a few weeks ago.

Shot my best round ever - 84 (Par 72)

Out in 44 (Par 37)
In in 40 (Par 35)

Sky'd my 1st tee shot so had to lay up with my 2nd (thought it was going to be a long long day). Still had about 150 to go and hit a sweet 8I to about a foot.

Best ball striking round of my life, missed a few putts I felt I should have made so definitely left some shots out there. Hoping to improve next time!

It was soooooooo good to get back out!

Shot 43 in my league last night. I'll take it I guess, could have been better tho. Didnt get any putts to drop but was all over the cup. Hitting the irons and wedges pretty well right now. If I could be consistent off the tee Id have a good chance to break 80 often.

43 (par 37). Not so good. Missed three fairways which led to two double bogeys.

99 (49-50) on the Penn State White Course, 6102 yd, 69.4 rating, 127 slope. First time I had played this course. Not particularly long and the greens are very large but there are loads of pitfalls, deep bunkers, deep rough, tight fairways, lots of trees. Although large greens, they are very undulating. Lots of slopes and tiers on nearly every hole.

I probably hit the greatest bunker shot that I'll even hit in my life. Came up short in the bunker on a 190 yd Par 3 16th hole. It slightly plugged on the upslope, 10 inches from the edge with a 15 inch lip right in front of me. About 25 yards from the hole, I dug in and hit the most gorgeous flop shot I'll ever hit in my life, stopping 8 feet from the hole. I missed the putt, Ackwhgaskldfc.

Played Tanna Farms in Geneva, IL today. Interesting layout, with a lot of water in play. Some of the holes were target golf. Par is 34-37=71, shot 38-41=79. Only 1 birdie, though I did make a few long putts for par. Greens were very shaggy and slow after all the rain we've had. Got tired coming in, and left a few out there, but not bad for not being on the course in 6 weeks.

Good deal on their website for $31. Would be an interesting course to gamble on, as a lot of the par 3's are in the 120-130 yard range from the blues, and there is plenty of trouble to get yourself into on other holes.

Oh, 1 other course oddity; the first hole is an island green par 3. Never saw that before.

Played Watson's Glen in Toronto last night, haven't played it in two years but insta-regretted it. Beautiful course which has really come into it's own as it has matured. The greens were lightning fast and rolling very nicely.

Unfortunately I walked from my car to the first tee and didn't start very well, but after the 4th hole I went on a GIR tear, hitting 8/9 from holes 5 to 13. On the 10th hole I hit one of the most solid irons of the year which ended up 6 inches from the cup, easy game.

My short game abandoned me however and I still ended up shooting an 86.
