I don't know what your handicap is, but I was wondering what you thought of Waterchase? I played it for the first time from the 1 up tees (like 7k?) and shot 75 as a 7 handicap and didn't really play as well as my score. It seemed very wide open and easy to score on.

40-46=86 at Royal Ontario
73.4/136 6400~ yards.

Front nine was probably top 3 best ball striking round I have ever had. Back 9 was a little more of a struggle but still happy with the round. Almost chipped in 3 times on the front, short-game was really sharp today.

Course was in unreal condition for spring, couldn't believe it.

I shot a 90 today for the first time in I think 15 years...ugh. All over the place, bad driving which is usually my strong point, and just all around bad. This 19 degree hybrid is driving me crazy

Routine bogey (didn't get up and down from the bunker), 9 iron to 3 feet made the birdie putt to get it right back, and then...

The third hole is a par 5 which bends right. The tee shot requires either a fade or a carefully placed straight ball. I of course have neither and crush a soaring draw 40 yards deep in the trees. For some stupid reason there are no out of bounds stakes in this area. I found my ball (beat) and had about a six inch wide opening to get it out going sideways. FAIL. Next shot, had about a 12 inch opening. FAIL. Next shot was either left handed or take an unplayable to a spot with no swing. Went lefty, FAIL. Finally get it out - again, not much of an opening and nowhere appealing to take an unplayable. Out lying six.

Bunt it down the fairway, fly the green with my approach, flop it up, make an eight footer for my ten.

I have tree tilt issues.

Yeah I agree with this pretty much. There's a ton of holes where it's driver+wedge for me when I am keeping the ball in play. I think its a pretty fun course to play, and the beer isnt too expensive.

paiute snow

39-49 (88)

found most of the fairways and greens on the front, 1 bogey, 1 birdie, 1 FIVE PUTT triple.

Started the back double double triple bogey and basically quit.

Began the round with two wedges, ended it with 0.

Getting all 4 of my wedges regripped and reshafted now (would play with 3 but havent purchased a hybrid or anything inbetween 3wood and 3iron yet).

brag - beautiful day for golf, sun was shining, it was warm, the tees and fairways were in immaculate condition.
beat - they had just hollow tined the greens.
variance - I played 7 holes before picking up my golf ball in frustration at the state of the greens, went in to the clubhouse and had 4 nice pints of guinness before heading home.

44-47-91.

Complete game meltdown continues. Sure, conditions were tough. Sure, I got far more ****ty breaks than usual. That was pretty ridiculous. Still absolutely no excuse for playing that poorly. 3 GIR, 32 putts.

Shot 44, 48, 100, 98, 94 Thur/Fri/Sat - striking my irons better than I have in a long time but having trouble getting off the tee now, pulling dead right (lefty) when I normally play a slight fade, have had only a few solid drives in the last 6 or so rounds which normally isn't an issue - I've worn two rain gloves my entire life due to very sweaty hands but in the last two weeks have worn just one regular glove on my right hand instead (ripped through one rain glove during league night a couple weeks ago and had a regular right handed glove at home I picked up at the turn and ditched the pair, never bought another pair of gloves to replace) - maybe it's a reach, but will be buying a new pair of rain gloves after work today.

4-23...James Baird State Park, 41/48 = 89. Had 30 putts, drained a 50 footer for birdie but also went double, bogey, double on 11, 12,13.

4-24....James Baird State Park, 39-42= 81. Had 30 putts, no birdies, no double bogeys, but played 11, 12, and 13 at 1 over which was four strokes better than the day before.

4-25...Hudson Hills GC, 40-46= 86. Had 32 putts, one birdie, 2 doubles and a triple, but holed out for par from a bunker. Very wet but the greens held up very well.

38-43-81 on Saturday.

Hole 1: 360d a 6 footer for birdie
Hole 5: chipped in from 30 yards for birdie
Hole 6: great chip almost went in, missed a 5 footer for par:
Hole 7: bad 3 putt
Hole 10: missed 8 footer for par after being on fringe
Hole 12: 5 perfect shots for a bogey...frustrating
Hole 13: 2nd shot layup clipped tree came straight down. Missed 2 foot putt and therefore made double.
Hole 14: missed 2 foot putt for par
Hole 15: Almost holed greenside bunker shot for eagle, missed 6 footer for birdie.
Hole 16: Drive into hazard, make a triple. Missed a 6 footer for a double
Hole 17: missed 15 footer for birdie after a 169 yard 7 iron (!!)
Hole 18: missed 15 footer for birdie

Frustrating.

....last 4 rounds: 80-80-81-81.....
round 1: I 3 putted 18 for an 80.
round 2: I played the last 2 holes in 3 over to shoot an 80.
round 3: I shot 44 on the front and then made 2 terrible bogeys on back9 from 20 feet on the fringe to shoot 81.

Played my 1st round with my dad the other day and I shot a whopping 109. I've played golf twice in the past year. But I just joined the WSGA so I can start getting a handicap. So far so good

42 (par 35). Another frustrating outing. 2/6 fairways (1 was with an iron, the other was a duck hook that took an unexpectedly favorable bounce), 5/9 greens, 17 putts. There were some better shots, but I'm still mystified about how my ball striking has suddenly become a huge liability.

Trying to be positive about things, I did have several very nice chips and finally made a putt on the last green, so there's that.

Cool forum. Hope I can contribute a little around here now. I played in high school (quite poorly generally) and after 4+ years of not playing a round decided to pick it back up this summer. After a couple of range trips I played 18 today and shot a true 43-46 for an 89. Really happy with it, actually. Had lots of 3-putts and a few 4-putts, plus a couple of duffs/shanks, so I'm looking forward to improving. Goal is to shoot a 79 or better by the end of the season.

5/9 greens is bad ball striking? Weird.

I don't understand why I don't hit more greens. I shot 82 today with 4 greens hit. I was on the fringe 7 times. I do this @ a pretty standard clip too.

Upon recount it was 4/9 (was on the fringe on the other). Two of the four were Par 3s of <140 yards. Course has very large greens and the tees were up. Three of the greens I missed I had 6 iron, 6 iron and 8 iron left.

So yeah. Bad ball striking.

Went to Brechtel Park and had gorgeous weather yet again--too bad it looks like rain every day from Saturday through the middle of next week. But it hasn't rained lately and they had actually cut the fairways recently, so the course was playing firm and fast, which helps me a ton. Played like crap, bent the rules, and took lots of mulligans on the front nine, but came back with a 57 on the back nine, and I think I only cheated twice--mulligan on one hole and moved my ball away from some tree roots on another hole. Spent some time working on my chipping before the round and it helped--I was getting just about every chip shot into two-putt range. And I putted well--35 total, and didn't have a 3-putt until #16. (Then I 3-putted #18.)

Played torrey pines for the first time, south course, shot 102 from the whites. I'll take it, been playing 6 months. We walked the course with pull carts, wow I'm tired, that's a lot of miles.

I offer two simple ideas here from my own experience...

1) How often do you miss a green over the back? When in between clubs take the longer one more often.

2) How often do you hit longer irons right on line? Aim at the center of the green more.

Worst round of the season yesterday so far. 40mph winds, first hole I drove 15 yards shy of the green, then chipped over the green then three-putted after chipping back on. Puke. No more good shots after that. 21 putts for 9 holes. 56. fml.

Got a chance to play Black Wolf Run on Tuesday. The championship course there that will be used for the 2012 US Women's Open. Gorgeous course. Tough course. Never thought I have to think about the best way to get out of a 60 yard long, 30 yard wide, 10 foot deep, green side bunker. I set a goal to get around in less then 110 and I was proud of myself to get around in a 108 from the green tees.
