Played the back nine winter tee/green. Didn't keep score, but did quite ok for first day out after winter. New irons feels ok. The winter has really done the nasty to the course. Dead grass everywhere. The real greens seem to have made it decently though, but they do need warm weather, sun, lots of sun.

31 stablford points lost by 1 but the real disappointment was just how far my ball striking had deteriorated since Friday.
I had a lesion Tuesday two weeks ago then played that weekend and this Friday both times I was hitting full shots much better longer higher and with a consistent right to left flight. Today the outside the line takeaway and the over the top motion were back and I was hitting high week balloons that drifted twenty plus yards right.
Now and again id get my set up right and then I could get the chest, arms and hands turning away from the ball as one and I hit a good shot as a result but not consistently, and the worst thing is I have no understanding of how my setups differs between the two.

Went out to Cinnabon, and hit the ball OK, but always missed by just enough to get in trouble and barely broke 100. ****.

No score. First time out on the course this year. Played 10 holes plus two half holes. Ball striking was erratic at best - required several mulligans (official season doesn't start here for a few days). Hit a couple very solid drives and two or three excellent iron shots.

I was very impressed by how nicely the greens were rolling for March - it hasn't even been warm enough for anything to grow yet.

Hoping to get in a legit round tomorrow weather permitting.

92 for 17 holes, I pulled a 7 iron OB while laying up on the 18th and picked up.
Poor ball striking coupled with atrocious chipping, Pitching and heavy handed putting meant I was never in contention and didn't contribute a thing to our team.

1 par, 6 bogies, 7 doubles and 4 blobs

39-45-84. Two doubles on the back, no birdies. Generally pretty happy about how I played. A little disappointed that I couldn't carry over yesterday's positive putting thought, but that's typical. Felt great to be out on the course.

Shot 42-38/80 at Hudson Hills....started off with 6 straight bogeys and then made back to back birdies and put it together. Hit the driver well and was hitting putts to get up and down. Felt good to have one of these rounds right at the beginning of the season.

It was also 27 degrees when we teed off...by the time it got to 45 it felt like 80 degrees.

I hit two perfect drives in a row yesterday, one of them went 198 yards and the other went 337 yards.

Bah, played 18 holes at the Essex Golf & Country Club on Saturday (Par 73, 6,907 yards) and went round in 114...Worst round for a while.

Still haven't broken 100 and it's really starting to get to me now, time for some lessons I think!

First round out at Heritage Todd Creek in north Denver, shot 99 with two birdies. Putting horrible, ball striking mediocrity with moments of brilliance.

Played City Park (par 67) and shot 115 (plus a few mulligans and whatnot). Roughly 15 strokes better than the last time I played there two weeks ago. It was funny because I was playing with a few strangers who hit the ball much better, but we'd end up surprisingly close to the same score. It hasn't rained much and the fairways were very firm and fast, so my game plan was: skip driver straight down the fairway, hit a 5-iron groundball, then hope I'm in the vicinity of the green. If I'd have hit my L-wedge half as well as I did last time I played I'd have saved a few shots, but I kept pulling it. I don't think I hit a single good full-swing shot all day and I still turned in the best round I've ever had. It's amazing how many bad golfers would play better if they'd just figure out what they do well and stick with it and not force dumb shots.

Played my second round of the year (fifth or sixth in two years; sidelined last year with knee injury) at Pumpkin Ridge, Ghost Creek in North Plains, Oregon. Driving to the course I told my dad that after playing a couple more rounds I needed to get in for some lessons since the for the past 3-4 years I've been stuck in mid-80s purgatory. I told him specifically that while I can't break 80, I "couldn't remember the last time I shot 90 or above." After the front nine I was convinced I jinxed myself, as I shot a 47 and was just playing terrible, not to mention the fact that the course was soaking wet and it was cold, rainy, and windy. Magic happened at the turn, though, and I shot 42 on the back to keep my "no 90" streak alive.

Haven't touched a club in 5 months since week before Halloween.

Played Saturday at my club. Cruising along at Even Par through 13 holes when the legs give out and I am out of GAS

14-Easy bogey
15-Easy bogey
16-Easy bogey
17-Easy double
18-Hard bogey...lol

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So that adds up to a cool 78 (+6)...and a +2 in the system. There should be a reset button on handicaps for those of us up north.

Shot 78 at the muni in St.Pete today. Wide open place where you can smash drives almost anywhere. Putting was a major issue and their greens were an even bigger problem. 3 or 4 of them are dead from "the cold weather" and the rest are all beat up from the hacks who refuse to repair ball marks.

I swear there's more dumpy courses around here than I've ever seen. These people can't even grow grass and I'm sick of listening to them blame it on the cold. Innisbrook looked to be in great condition for the transitions champ. The fairways were pristine and the greens rolled fabulous even though they were a little brownish in certain areas.

Cinnabar Hills

Hawk Tees: 6853 yds - 73.2 - 140

Last friday I went out with my dad after not golfing for the first time in about 4 months since I don't have my clubs in college. Keep in mind I'm a 12 handicap.

First 3 holes: par, par, birdie. I shot 38 on the front, beat my dad (2 handicap) by 8 holes and had him down 45 bucks going into the bet.

On the back he doubles the bet - $10 Nassau 2 down auto press with free presses. Back nine I choke and shoot 50. I was down $80 on the back going into the last hole and parred 18 for $40 winning $5 on the day.

Brag: 1 under through three holes after not touching a club in almost half a year.
Beat: Shot 88 after being two over on the front.
Variance: Parlayed my $5 into $20 after convincing my dad to get me a sweet tommy bahama "endless chillin" tee and calling it "even" for the day.

Played my first round since October this afternoon and shot 85 with only 28 putts. Guess I need to work a little on my ball striking. April in north TX tilts me so much with the 20+mph winds all day every day.

First round since end of September. +1 through 5 and then bogeyed out to shoot a disappointing 41. Ball striking was good but as expected my putting and chipping was rusty. It also didn't help that the greens were in pretty bad shape. Oh well. Gonna probably get another round in each day for the next 4-5 days since the weather is supposed to be nice.

Brag: my first birdie ever. Sort of. Played at Brechtel Park and the 8th hole is a par-3 that's essentially an island with the green in the middle, surrounded by trees except for a small opening for a tee shot to get through. Most of the time I lose a couple balls into the water, then give up. First shot, water. Second shot, water. 3rd shot I hit pretty well, up in the air but long and looking like it'll miss long and left into the water on the other side. I hear the ball hit a tree and think, "Okay, maybe it stayed in play." My friend and I walk along the path that leads to the green, and I see a ball on the green a few feet from the cup, and I know it isn't my friend's. I'm surprised and unsure but optimistic, and sure enough I walk up to the ball and it's mine, about five feet from the hole. It probably took a twenty yard ricochet off the tree. I calmly sink the putt for a quasi-birdie after two mulligans. And hey, even if you count the penalties it's still a six, which is a lot better than I usually do at that hole.

Beat: didn't play very well on many of the other holes. Bad putting day, which I can partly blame on the horrible greens.

Variance: gorgeous weather, and it's been dry for a while, but it seems like the groundskeepers couldn't be bothered to mow the fairways, so there were lots of bad lies and drives that barely rolled.

Shot 85 at Disney's Lake Buena Vista course. Drove the ball outstanding, just couldn't hit a 100 yard sand wedge to save my ****ing life. Made a couple triples on easy ass holes that should have been bogey at the worst.

I'm playing at the Magnolia on Friday, looking forward to it, hopefully my good driving stays with me and I can correct my wedge problem. If not, that course will probably kick my ass.

shot a 41 after being +6 thru 4...getting better! Hit two greens (both with a putter).

Played first 9 of 2010 today. Mostly bogeys and doubles. Only one blowup hole. Had some legit chances at par but botched putting.

Overall impression: better swing than I thought I'd have. Strength training thus winter is paying off in distance.

Played at Brechtel Park again.

Brag: felt good off the tee for the first time in while, using my 5 wood. Hit 5 tee shots in a row I was happy with. Managed to bogey #18, which is a nasty par-4 with a lot of water where I usually shoot 8 or worse. Best round I think I've ever had at Brechtel.
Beat: Could've parred 18 had I made a six-footer. I didn't start hitting tee shots well until Hole #14. And even then I screwed up with a bunch of ridiculously horrible iron shots.
Variance: it's a holiday so the green fee was $4 more than on a weekday. Even though the course was empty.
