42-40 - 82. Did not hole one putt outside 12 feet, but lots of long ones were close, and made the come-backs so felt good. Then near the end a couple of miserable 3-putts, ugh. Seven and 8-iron were really good, and now I hit em pretty pure, getting higher flight. Best scoring opportunities from 70yards were ugly, frustrating stuff. Some awful chips too. A month ago 82 woulda felt really good, now it was very mediocre. Hope the trend continues.

Frustrating day. Took almost 5 hours to play(springvale not big met) It was hot, no water on the course so got a bit dehydrated and was just making a ton of mental mistakes. Like I was in casual water so cart was like 7 yards behind the ball. So got the number from the cart to the pin and stepped off the 7 but instead of subtracting 7 yards I added it. Also made like 4 awful swings when I was over the ball and should have stepped off. Also missing left off the tee which I hate.

Par 70
37 - 41 = 78
32 putts with no 3 putts
4/14 FIR
9/18 GIR
2 birdis 3 doubles.

Only good thing was I finally got home in 2 on number 11

38-41-79

13 pars, 3 bogeys 2 doubles

12/18 GIR, 7/14 FIR, 34 putts

With 12 greens I had a lot of good looks for birdie and burned a lot of edges but nothing fell. Irons were great today.

The new driving iron is for sure staying in the bag. Normal swing I can hit it 215y but if I really try and step on it I can hit it 225y.

Two man event this weekend. Today was 9 holes of scramble and 9 of alternate shot.

-1 for the scramble, 3 birdies, 2 bogeys. +8 on alternate shot. Both middle of the pack. With even mediocre putting the ball striking was there for it to be a good day, we both missed a bunch of putts inside 5 feet ... couldn't get the ball to roll true even though the greens were mowed and rolled this morning. Super aggravating.

City qualifier/course championship.

Well that was awful, the worst shanks I have ever had. Like so so bad. Dead shanked 8 wedges. Funny part was my short game was amazing on the ones I didn't shank. Had 2 punch outs and then an awful break on hitting a tree went dead back and into an awful spot which cost me 2 shots. Was awful but I did manage to shoot an 85 so like if I shoot 65 I can still qualify. lol

41 - 44 = 85
29 putts with 1 3 putt
7/14 FIR
4/18 GIR
1 birdie 2 doubles 1 triple.

Like I said my short game was amazing when it wasn't a shank.

Can't get any worse tomorrow.

Rained out today, damn it.

Thanks, that sucks rained out. The tournament on the other side of town here got washed out as well. Rained a bunch there but only like 1 inch in the morning here, course was dry enough to play the ball down.

Played 9 today. 3250 124/71. Had 3 birdies and still shot 40. I have no idea why I can't put it all together.

Day two of two man mixed event. Shot -6 on best ball and even for total net.

37-41-78 on my ball. 3 birdies, 2 double bogeys. Weird day. Ball striking was A- solid, short game was just bad. Shanked two chips. Missed so many makeable birdie putts and an eagle putt. Took four to get down on a par 3 where I came up 20 feet short of the pin (10 feet short of the green). Awful.

Not even sure what I shot. It was probably 100. I signed my card without actually looking. I hate to make excuses but I felt like I was drugged. Threw up twice after 6 holes. Had basically no swing speed. Only finished because carts were allowed and was able to toss my bag on a dude from my groups cart. I basically played the back only because I was marking someone. I just couldn't physically swing a club. Drives were like 25-30 yards short on every shot and irons off the middle of the face were 2 clubs short.I didn't even realize I lost my 6 hybrid on a punch out from 17 yesterday from the tees trees and teed off with 13 clubs. Luckily my man card had been turned in to even play the club in the first place and have a 6 iron I can use going forward. /

/complaining and making excuses like a little *****

Luckily the tee time were based after yesterday's results so no one one in contention had to sit through that garbage.

Shrug that one off. Chalk it up as an experience.

Right now I am trying to play in as many events as I can in order to get ready for my member/guest in October. I can't have another disaster like I did last year when I could only keep a 5 iron in play off the tee.

Thanks. Experience is sorely lacking as I have only played like 5 non scramble tournament round. Grew up playing in tennis/bowling tournaments. I am not going to dwell on it. Always good to remember it isn't like I do this for a living so an awful round doesn't actually matter in real life.

79 on Sunday my game is starting to come back around again (despite shanking 2 balls in that round and about 10 4 irons shanks on the range after). good times

36 - Better shot by shot this one.

It rained all day Saturday and Sunday here, so much that the courses were closed yesterday. Decided to hoof it...in Florida...in July. I was already sweating by the 1st green.

1st (par 5 510y) - Hit the 3 driving iron off the tee off the toe a bit but in the middle of the fairway. Hit the driving iron again on the second shot horribly, but straight leaving me 149y. Hit 9 iron to 6 inches for a kick in birdie.

2nd (par 4 386y) - Hit the driving iron again off the tee in the middle of the fairway with absolutely zero roll. Had 156y to the pin and hit an 8 iron to about 15 feet above and left of the hole up against the back fringe. The fringe made for an odd swing at the putt and I never came close to the hole, tap in par.

3rd (par 4 327y) - Hit driving iron to the middle of the fairway. Couldn't see it come off the club so I hit a second one just in case and didn't see that one either. Get out to the fairway and they are both laying 2 feet apart. Have 137y to the green and hit a pitching wedge that seemed to slip off the club face short and left of the green. Hit my chip to a foot for a kick in par.

4th (158y par 3) - Hit 8 iron that almost took a nose dive for some reason, not really sure what happened. Ball landed 10 yards short of the green. Stepped up to the chip that went hop, hop, roll and into the cup for birdie.

5th (390y par 4) - Hit 3w off the tee that leaked into the left rough. Was left with what I though was around 180y (can't see green around treed) and I pured a 6 iron that landed well long of the green. I have a 20y pitch back up the hill to the green where I nail the stick and it rolls out to about 15 feet. Miss the short and make bogey.

6th (370y par 4) Hit driver solidly (no roll obv) into the middle of the fairway exactly 100y to the pin. Hit 54* that I pushed a bit but it drew back slightly and left me on the front of the green with a 15 foot birdie putt. Let the putt right in the middle of the hole but a rotation short, tap in par.

7th (404y par 4) Hit a 3w that I thought was struck well but didn't seem to fly down the middle. Actually had some roll out and was 185y to the green. Hit just a terrible 5 iron off the toe and left it short of the bunker guarding the front of the green. Hit a good pitch though about 6 feet past the cup. Pull the downhill put horribly and end up making bogey.

8th (194y par 3) Hit 4 iron well but it leaks left of the green pin high but short siding myself. Ht a really good chip that stops 2 feet below the hole and make it for par.

9th (490y par 5) Hit a really good drive into the left rough. Left rough is the preferred spot for me because of the nine into the green. Somehow I still have 250y to the pin. I strike a good 3 wood that comes up 44 yards short???? I pitch my 3rd past the pin and have a little downhill slider to match my career 9 hole score. Hit a good putt that I thought was in but it catches the right lip and spins out. Tap in par.

Guessing the inconsistent lengths off the tee might have something to do with the yellow Wilson Ultra that I was playing (got it from the 25 cent in at the flea market). That was the only yellow ball I had and I figured it was going to be hard to see the ball with the recent rain, which was correct).

Oh well, I will take even par.

It's funny, after buying new clubs last year and going with hybrids instead of a 4 and 5 iron, Ive now gone back to a 5 iron that I just love...may just get a 4 and 3 now and use one off the tee on short holes instead of a hybrid. I have such a hard time hitting them off tees for some damn reason.

For years, I had so much trouble hitting the long irons...now that I'm better, I think maybe I can go back to them.

38-36-74

4 birdies, 9 pars, 4 bogeys, 1 double

9/14 FIR, 13/18 GIR, 33 putts (1 3-putt for par)

Course played a whopping 6,118 from the tips. Was an old course I used to play in high school. Remember it being much more difficult . Had an 8 footer to match my 9 and 18 hole records on the 18th but missed.

Highlight of the day was 17 tee. After I hit my drive I turned sideways and tried to hit one over the Mississippi River. Looked long but cleared it easily. Lasered it and it was only 225y. Remember that being much longer too.

Took the day off work with the wife to play 9 together. She hasn't swung a club in about a year. While I played great (for my standards) and shot 42, more impressive was her damn short game. 5 2-putts and 4-one putts. Her old man is from Savanah and played competitively for a bit so I guess that southern golf blood never leaves you.

35-38-73. 2 birdies, no double bogeys.

A bit of a bummer to finish bogey-bogey, but those are the two hardest holes on the course and I didn't miss either par putt by much. Not an epic day in any aspect but everything was B+ grade or better other than one shanked chip.

54-42.

That's with 2 cinco bogey's or whatever they are called. Took a 10 on a par 5 and an 8 on a par 3 on the front. I played pretty good enough today to shoot in the low 80's. I will have a round this year where I shoot in the 70's. I feel like I am playing that well.

Troy Burne in Hudson, WI - 6,712y 73.2/140

43-42-85

7 pars, 8 bogeys, 3 doubles

9/14 FIR, 10/18 GIR, 38 putts (with 4 3-putt bogeys)

Course actually played less than the yardage due to a number of elevated tee boxes. Tips of 6,978 would have been easily manageable. Greens are really big, about 3x bigger than I am used to which led to a lot of 3-putt bogeys. Lots of room off the tee gave me an easy driving day.

I actually played this course about 20 years ago and forgot about it until I drove on the property.
