Cross-complaints.

Costco is going to destroy Tileist. Titleist is used to picking on small-fry golf ball manufacturers. They are taking on the beast here. Accushnet's total revenue is $1.5 billion vs. Costco $118 billion in revenue. Costco can outlegal them without blinking.

And it sounds like Titleist has very little claims. Costco doesn't even mention Titleist. They just say it measures up to national brands.

Tour level quality golf balls at $1 will be impossible for Titleist to compete against.

The problem with that analysis is that Costco isn't a manufacturer and they don't appear to have any more $1 balls to sell.

From what I have read on the internets -- and I have no firsthand knowledge -- Costco got a deal on some excess inventory/production to birth the KS ball. The product they had access to has been sold, it's done. And there may not be any particular incentive to sell or make more.

There is no question that it is possible to sell a tour quality ball for substantially less than Pro V1s. But you still have to have a ball to sell.

Seems unlikely that they'd go through with a lawsuit if they had no intention to sell more balls. But who knows.

The factory that makes them could not withstand the legal barrage of Titleist, even if they aren't guilty. You still have to pay lawyers to defend a lawsuit. With Costco at your back, you don't have to worry.

Don't know why they cut off producing. Maybe they just sold excess inventory at a loss.

The reviews of the golf ball were the same as Titleist so whatever they did worked. Enough to scare Titleist to think of taking on Costco.

The balls are currently unavailable on Costco's website, but the suit says the company plans to keep selling them.

At the risk of sounding like a jerk, you don't know many lawyers, do you? Of course they say they plan to keep selling them, it kills their damages if they say they're done.

Keep an eye out here:

I have a bushnell and love it. I also ride in a cart all the time so it's a little easier to use. Never thought of this until I was walking around Bandon all last week.

Cancel it and get a flightscope imo. Can maybe find one used for 5 or 6k, my will probably be attempting to go pro at some point buddy has a Skytrak and uses a Gc2 and flightscope regularly (i will have to confirm which flightscope model) and he says its not close between ST/Gc2 vs Flightscope. I can get specifics as to why if u care, I dont remember them off the top of my head though.

flightscopes need more space and the older models to not do putting. data wise though, yes, its more like a GC2 with HMT which is a little over the top for my needs.

chrome soft soccer balls are pretty good on all shots, but they're very good for giving you instant feedback on how well you're rolling your putts.

Yeah actually why I bought them - I happened to get one mixed in with a bucket of range balls and tried it on the putting green. Loved the feel off the putter and the visual feedback on the roll was great. Hope they are as good on full shots, I usually play TM Lethal.

I saw somewhere where someone made a template for the soccer ball and just used a sharpie to make them. Cool idea if you like other brands of balls that don't offer it.

Any decent places to get new gear online?

Ideally I'd like to get a year old model driver but has never been hit before. I know what kind of shaft I'd like, just not sure if there's a good way to do this rather than just finding a store. Unfortunately Golfsmith closing means that Dick's is the only golf store in Chicago that's near me.

I posted in August, but didn't pull the trigger on anything and am now getting ready to play for the season, so want to ask one more time before going shopping.

I have a Callaway X460 driver and Big Bertha irons from about 10 years ago. I played pretty regularly until about 2010 and probably averaged only a few rounds/year since then. I've been pretty mediocre, generally hitting around 100 on average courses.

Last time I got the recommendation that driver would be the most impactful club to get. Most important for me is consistency and forgiveness.

How about Ping G30? Titleist 910? TaylorMade R15? Cobra Fly-Z?

Thoughts on also upgrading irons? All irons? Just wedges?

Or should I just do some practicing/lessons and forget about the new stuff?

I'd start with equipment, play a bit, then think about lessons after.

For a driver I would look at the Ping G (G30 is one version older if you want to save $). Ping G irons is probably a good starter set of irons too. I may sound like a Ping rep (I'm not, no ping in my bag at all) but they do make some decent GI clubs.

Thanks, so you think I'll see substantial difference with the new technology?

Looks like G30 is $250 new, G $300 new and $250 used

Should I get fitted and get them new or just get used online? Should probably get 10.5* stiff?
