Decided to take the plunge and invest in my game since I want to get a bit more serious about golf this year. Went to Golfsmith and hit any and every club for a little over 3 hours. Got fit for the Ap1's and scooped up last year's M2. Putter already taken care of now just need to get a 3 wood, hybrid and a few wedges to round the bag up.

Forced to start from scratch when your friend who used to be a drug addict sold your entire set and you've been playing with a piece me together set for the last few years. Pretty excited about the whole ordeal though. Either going to get a deal with one of local ranges so I can pound balls on the reg or bite the bullet and become a member somewhere.

did you hit the M2 3w? I currently have an M1 driver (and love the hell out of it) and have never hit either the M1 or M2 3w, but i'm curious about them.

I did not hit the 3 wood figured the almost 4 hours I had spent there was enough. Irons are slated to come in two weeks. Between now and then plan to hit around on some 3 metals, hybrids and scoop the last few wedges. If the woods spring off the face and creates effortless power just like the M series drivers though I'm all in. Actually liked the way I hit the M2 better than the M1 why I stuck with that.

I played the M1 3 wood (2015 version) with an AD DI 7x. For some reason that club gave me a nasty pull hook miss on occasion. I never have that with any other club in my bag. I would say that I had my greatest 3-4 shots ever with that club but that miss was just death and I had to get rid of it.

Was able to get a long demo today (40 minutes uninterrupted) on Trackman today with the Epic. The (best) numbers:



There was virtually no wind, maybe just a tiny breath into me. I tried a couple dozen options and would up with the Epic Sub-Zero 9.0* loft with the Fujikura Pro 72 X flex.

This thing just shot bullets every time. Even with a negative AOA I was bombing it. A great low flight with a very manageable cut. Order will be placed shortly.

i'm pretty sure Rick Shiels came in his pants while test driving the sub-zero.

I have a hoping to turn pro eventually friend that says 170 ball speed is about the min needed to compete on tour. Looks like your pretty much there, nice.

One of the things the guy said that I have never heard of before is a good ball speed is your swing speed +60 to +62. His quote is your ball speed is "horse ****". That all has to do with a negative AOA and not striking it particularly solid.

He also said just co with your cut and "**** taking any lessons" to fix it. He said "you don't see Bubba taking lessons to fix his cut". If I have a repeatable swing that's all that really matters.

The PGA tour averages for 2014, with the driver, are quite similar to your very best shot. The noticeable differences are in the AOA and ball speed, but yours is a near perfect strike.

That said, you hitting the ball 60-62MPH than your driver speed is the real horse ****. You would need a smash factor over 1.52 to do that with your CHS, and smashes over 1.5 are very rare.

Yeah doing a quick google search I can't seem to find a solid answer. Did a quick search on DJ. His average swing speed is 121, average ball speed 181. Spieth is 111 and 166.

Looks like that 60-62 number is bogus, maybe only for the top drivers of the ball.

Got a call from the boss today. As a thank you they are giving me a Sub Zero driver for my 20th anniversary at the company. That was a nice surprise!

Are any of the consumer launch monitors (<$3k) useful at all?
