So I received the SkyTrak. It has it's issues, but overall, it works as advertised.

problem so far is that it works as advertised. what a depressing little device! I'm ****ing terrible. I've never hit on a simulator or monitor of any kind and I actually went down to golfsmith today after using this thing just to make sure it wasn't lying to me...it wasn't.

I always knew I hit the ball short...but wow. lol, sub 80 swing speed. so depressing. haha

Yeah I think that happens to everyone, seems to be the biggest benefit to getting one. We can delude ourselves too easily on the range or the course when it comes to distances.

I miss my 3 iron. I only bought 4-GW. Picked up a titleist 816 3 hybrid today. Never been a huge fan of hybrids. Went in to order an AP2 3 iron and talked myself into the hybrid. I'll be putting that bad boy into play in the morning.

I love the new AP2s. We've had some adjustment pain but they are great. Well struck shots are truly rewarded. Took me 30 years to buy a new set of irons. Don't know what the hell took me so long. I will admit, I still occasionally feel a pang of sadness leaving the copper pings in the garage. I think I'll still take them out every now and then.

Just ordered a 915F, 15 degrees with the Diamana S+ Blue 70 Stiff shaft.

Also got 10 dozen Pro V1/Pro V1x practice balls for $27 CAD per dozen. I will never understand how people spew on full priced ProV1s.

Picked up a Happy Putter to mess around with the adjustability.

Picked up an 8 degree R11 with an extra long UST shaft in X flex. I'm not sure if it's the full 48", but it's definitely longer than my i20 by at least an inch and a half. Went out to the range (possibly for the first time this season) and spent at least half my bucket hitting it.

Other than the first attempt I hit it quite well. The range I went to pretty much sucks, it's wide open and I don't really believe their yardages (not that I can really see out past 250 anyway), so I can't really compare distance. Hoping I get a chance to get out to the course tomorrow to hit a few live.

It obviously doesn't fit my game, but it's fun to mess around with -- maybe I'll break it out for scrambles.

Replaced my ancient Odyssey Dual Force 990 putter with a preowned White Hot Pro #1. Felt nice on the practice green, we'll see how it does on the course.

found a used m2 in perfect condition for <250. im dont seem to hit it much further, much so much straighter. took it out to simSt. Andrews this morning and shot 85 with it.

I'm looking at picking up a 915 D4. They are hard to find used and damn near impossible to find one for a lefty. I might have to settle for the D3. Reason I want to try and go this route is because you can change the lie of the club as much as 1.5% upright which is exactly what I need with my steep swing.

Has anyone compared the Taylormade M2 Tour irons to the rsi ! irons? I'm looking to check out the M2s

After chopping a donkament for 4k last night, I decided to go get a fitting at Taylormade and compared my RSI 1s with the M2 Tour irons....

Didn't try the regular M2s because they're really chunky and more for higher handicappers.

The M2 Tours are a beast. Hit my 6 iron as long as my RSI 1 5-iron. As I can't stand my 5-iron, that's a good thing.

Ended up getting a new set, 6-9 irons, PW, SW, AW. I kept my burner lob wedge. Wasn't thrilled with the 5-iron, so I decided to go with an M2 5 hybrid and 4 hybrid. Tried different combos to see what the gap was between clubs...might have to do some adjusting, as the gap between my 6-iron and the 5-hybrid was about 20 yards.

But man, I hit the **** out of both hybrids. The 5 was averaging 190, topping out at about 205, and the 4 was being smoked around 215-225. I figure if it turns out if I need something in between the 6-iron and the 5 hybrid, I can always go back and pick up a 5-iron.

What are the loft differences between your old and new irons?

yep...that number on the club is just a number. I hit my 3 wood 285 because I painted the number 3 on my driver.

TM strengthening iron lofts/lengths in their game improvement lines has been going on since the Burners and maybe even earlier. The RBZ 3 iron is one of the most ridiculous, with 39.5in length and 17.5 degree loft. Makes a terrific driving iron though

I mentioned to Dominic that I wanted to try a driving iron when he said "why the hell would you do that when you can hit your hybrid like you do." I guess he does have a point, but damn it, I want to try it!

I tried a few different shafts during the fitting, but the one I liked the best is the stock shaft: True Temper XP 95. I don't remember the exact weight off the top of my head. I also got them in steel instead of graphite...I just have always liked steel better for irons. The hybrids only come in graphite.

They gave a stock M2 Tour 4-iron to John Daly to try, and he hit it 295 yards.

I just got back from the range - holy ****, the hybrids are so much better than my Jetspeed hybrids. The 5 feels so comfortable...whether I'm hitting down on it off the grass or it's teed up. The 4 goes for miles.

The irons also feel wonderful off the grass. there's some forgiveness so it's almost as easy to hit as my old RSI 1s, but there's a softness and feel to the M2 Tours that make it easier to work the ball.

Playing Bali Hai in the morning - I'm assuming I'm going to hit over every green until I get a feel for each club's distance, but i'll report back tomorrow!

I forgot to mention that the M2 Tours are both smaller and with a lot less offset than the M2s. When a club is as forgiving as this, you don't really need the offset as much.

Normal M2s are actually 2-3 deg stronger than my Rocketbladez HL irons across 4-AW, and the same shaft lengths. M2s have more offset too. That's pretty extreme when considering I think my irons are fairly game improvement oriented

I might be mistaken (too lazy to google) but XP95's would be 95 grams. As a comparison my X100's are 130g. It all comes down to feel and spin. I tried about 5 different shafts and this was the lowest spinning, lowest launching for me.

Xp95 has a higher launch profile too. They come stock on my Vapor Fly Pros.

I'm in the same boat with clubs. I just browse WRX all day and it makes me want to try anything and everything.

Played a few Saturday's ago with a buddy. He had a new Rocketballz 10.5d driver and was crushing it. On 18 he striped a drive and then told me to give it a swing. I did the same. When we got to the fairway our balls were 2 feet apart.

The next day I went to Dick's, grabbed that, the latest TaylorMade and Cobra drivers and went to the simulator.

Was hitting all of them pretty well and got in a groove of a solid 30 straight balls in the 260-265 range. All 3 clubs. That's not too far from my current range, but I have an old club with a small sweet spot...I can reach 265+, but maybe only 4/10 times.

Now I normally have a pretty high trajectory on my driver, so I asked if they had the RBz 9.5d for comparison.

I'm hitting shots that are completely new to me! Clearing bunkers, creeks and ponds that I've never even considered before! Have to completely reconsider any lines I am used to taking cause I'l driving through doglegs! Even my mis-hits** are going 250!
