If the event has pin sheets gps is ok but as someone who just bought a laser I don't know how I ever played a round without one. So much value in them, and tons of value on inside 75 yard shots where it never occurred to me how useful they can be.
I feel useless if I forget my laser or the batteries run out or something. Since the first couple rounds I played with it, it became completely 100% necessary. And it improved my game massively almost immediately. But it never occurred to me that GPS wasn't completely useless. It's not that uncommon for me to shoot a back pin with my laser, hit it 5 yards long and tilt my balls off when I'm off the back in deep rough, not having realized how far back the pin was.
On that note, do any of the watch GPS units have good shot tracking? I don't care to punch in what club I'm using on course, but I'd like to have the ability to track shot locations and specify the clubs in software later.
