Okay, I started anew today at TalylorMade. Last week, I went to Golf Galaxy and tried them indoors. Today, it was outside, so I got a real good feel for the clubs.
Tried the M1 and M2 9.5 and 10.5 drivers, with a stiff shaft. I hit about 25 shots with each club, including my Jetspeed 9.5 with a little lower loft setting.
Both clubs are awesome. I tended to hit the M1 better with a neutral fader and the weight slider all of the way in the back. According to the feedback, I was consistently hitting drives 290+, with some being 310+ with roll. Real easy to hit. Smash factor always between 1.45 and 1.5. Club head speed right around 100mph on most shots. Spin rate fluxed between 2200 and 4500.
I did notice that when I put the ball a little more forward in my stance, my spin rate would come down - obviously not hitting down on it so much.
I don't like noodling with the sliders, though. Too much to think about.
The M2 was like butter. My sweet spot seems to be the 9.5 with a slightly higher loft setting...so probably around a 10. Smashed the **** out of this. Again, lots of drives over 290...with a long of 316. Number very similar to the M1
I hit my Jetspeed well, but I topped out at 290, with my average being around 284. And my spin rate was definitely higher this time - between 4500 and 6000, so something was wonky at Golf Galaxy.
So both new clubs were definitely longer by a good 15 yards, and the feel of both were real easy to get used to.
I hit some off-center shots that still went long as ****, and when I hit it dead center, the balls - range balls, mind you - jumped off the clubface in an impressive manner.
So I bought the M2, since I couldn't really feel any difference between it and the M1. Why pay $100 more for the latter, right?
Also tried the M2 3-wood, but I hit my Burner really well, so there's no need for that yet.
Can't wait to try it on the course.
