went kinda nuts getting back into playing and bought new everything, thankfully ebay is decently cheap and easy, local course has a sweet practice range multiple pitching greens etc and an unlimited monthly rate so been practicing more with a few rounds thrown in here and there
irons: X-14 Steelhead 2 deg upright firm graphite 3-P,A,S $170 in near new condition, almost blew a chunk for Apex's but decided to go cheap while Im knocking off the rust, always loved the x 14s look, was fitted previously at Ping for a similar setup and decided to stick with thos specs
woods: Callaway X Hot 2 Driver 9 degree Firm flex,$119 driver is in new condition, have not used yet was interested in the adjustable face angle as Callaway woods always look closed/hooked to me, been hitting some goofy 400cc driver with a cracked face not sure if it is losing distance for me so dropped the dime on a name brand bomber
wedges: got a deal on a couple Callaway V forged 52 and 56 wedges, 52 is copper finish near new about $40 w shipping, 56 was kinda beatup but was only $19+ 10 shipping...have not used the 52 yeat but dislike the graphite shafted 52 deg "A' wedge matched to my iron set so ordered a replacement, 56 is actually a nice wedge can hit high soft shots as well as driving low spinners with ease, hosel has been shaved down to enable hitting shots closer to heel, and has bounce on heel shaved down to facilitate opening the club for flop shots etc.
shoes: Adidas Tech Response 4.0 $50 at big 5 was gonna order Eccos but I'm a big guy size 13 so had so worries about the fit, these adidas are easy wearing comfortable right out of the box and for $50 I'm not worried if they dont last more than a few seasons
balls: been using Titleist ProV1 but not sure if I am behind the times on ball technology, back when I took a break from the game, Callaway blue and red and Prov1 had just come out and were best at the time, looking for dstance with a little touch around the greens hate the way plastic balls feel off the putter, any recommendations? I am an erratic 12 - 18 handicap, looking for distance but who relies on a touch short game to save strokes
next on my list is a scotty cameron similar to my ping anser, looking at a couple newports in the 120-200 range that are very nice

I believe you're looking for any surlyn covered golf balls as that is the cover they put on premium balls.
pro-v1
callaway hex black
srixon z-stars
some of the bridgestone series of balls
TM rocketballs are apparently decent
nike's top of the line ball
There are lots of options out there, but the above are a few good choices
Got to the local yearly golf show at opening this morning and grabbed a Ping Hoofer stand bag. Going to build a set mostly via eBay to keep at my parents house back home for when I visit. Also got a new pair of 588 RTX Cleveland wedges, 52* and 56*. And then by divine intervention the only pair of size 12 shoes happened to be a nice pair of white Eccos.
Total spent 375. I'd say not bad, normal prices probably would have been about 650 or so.
All purchased in the last 3 weeks. I used to be a 7 handicap back in HS and early college days, quit for 8 years cause of life, then came back to a 9. Then child, quit 8 years, and now on my way back again.
Finally used a gift cert from the GF and traded in my 8.5 G20 for a 9.0 ping G30 LS-tec. Seems to launch much lower as I had to loft up 1 degree to get the optimal launch angle... Spin rate is about 500rpm lower and carry has increased, although the shorter shaft (premium version?) only has me averaging about 7 more yards...
I guess that's a lot but not worth it to me. Seems like you should be able to get fitted or buy an adjustable and get similar results.
$25 Golftown E-card used and bought FJ xps-1 for $90 reg $230 + a Nike shirt reg $69 for $29 3 boxes of prov-1 + bonus box and a sun mountain ultra light hybrid bag.
Golf balls and lots of them.
10 dz Bridgestone e6
2 dz pro v1x
1 dz pro v1
3 dz callaway super soft
3 dz callaway super soft yellow
Did a group buy for myself and two buddies. All of the above for ~$150 shipped. Found a great online seller of used golf balls and figured I should stock up for the season.

How are you liking these so far? I have tested 8-P and really liked them, haven't had time to hit the longer clubs yet. Looking for new irons this year for the first time in about 12 years.
All for $200. God bless eBay. Those Taylormade Rocketballs hybrids may just have to find a home in my main set as opposed to the spare set I bought them for.
I hit my vokey pretty good, I play hybrids from 3-6, I need new irons that are best related to volkey, which titleist iron would you suggest or another bran that might be similar. Thank you .
Ping had a demo day at a local range today so I walked over to try a driver. The demo-guy tried some different shafts and fiddled with knobs and stuff and obv I ended up walking away with a new driver
Ping G30 SF Tec
Really excited about this one - I hit one of the best drives I've ever hit in my life after demo-guy had made some adjustments to it. I've always hit my driver pretty slowly because I can't really swing it fast without getting a monster slice, but it felt like I could pound this a lot harder and still have it go reasonably straight.
Will have to try it for a while longer before I know if it's just a 'new club effect', but it felt so amazingly different from my current driver, that I'm pretty sure it will be a significant improvement.
Got a Krank 6* Driver head on the way. Pretty stoked to try this out as I play an 8.5*(titleist 910 adjusted down to I think 7.75* at the lowest setting?) now and hit it too high(not due to spin). Always wanted to try one anyway.
Tried it. Not a fan. I think it is because to be optimal you need to hit lower on the clubface and that just doesn't work for me. Can't make my brain belive that it is correct.
