What golf gear did you buy today? - Page 18 - Golf and Golf Tournament Forum

How come Nike can't make decent equipment for anyone but the pros? I don't know one person in our club that plays any Nike gear including the balls. It's mostly Taylor made and titlelist with some ping gear.

i can't say as i've seen their new stuff on the rack much(except balls, apparel/shoes) i did see a set of their blades on the used rack the other day/doubt it was the japanese stuff--as well as a driver or two.

def see some nike balls at the range tho.

Most of the people I know that take golf even semi-seriously don't care much for anything Nike, but their clothes and shoes pretty much crush among Casual Golfballer.

A 10 h/c brought one down to the club on Saturday and let his friend who is cat 1 player hit it. This guy is a seriously long stack-and-tilter and he said it was one of the best clubs he had ever hit in terms of feel and distance.

I agree that it looks very nice too.

Bought a 2nd-hand Cleveland Classic XL Custom 10.5 with Fubuki 53 regular shaft.

Never had an adjustable before. All the reviews I've read/watched seem positive and I was drawn by the classic look - I was using wooden clubs not long ago!

These drivers, and the fairway woods especially, are pretty hard to find in the UK - when I was trying to find a 3W and 5W to go with it (if I like it), I was getting most of the ebay quotes from the USA!

You can get the non-custom drivers quite cheap here atm, but I wanted to be able to fiddle around and see if I can improve my driving.

Anyone have any good tips/suggestions/locations for shaft fitting? I'm currently playing the SLDR and RBZ Stage 2 fairways with stock shafts. Needless to say, I really like the clubheads but I find myself wanting more from the stock shafts - especially on the RBZ clubs since they're lighter.

I see that I can probably get this done at Golf Galaxy, anyone have any experience with their service and indoor launch monitors?

Yes. I just looked back at the date of your post. I deserve penalty for slow play. Anyway, for others the info of drug store might be helpful. I found the CR2 in the "batteries for medical devices" area.

They were not cheap. 2 pack for $40.

Good point. Lots of casual American golfers are fans of the big three sports which are saturated with Nike gear. I see the cross over appeal.

I bought the Nike TWid mesh just to practice in because they're so comfortable. As far as Nike clubs go, no one I play with uses them with handicaps all across the board. I like their shorts and some of their shirts. Their socks are underrated.

Bought some used golf balls of golfballsunlimited.com. Never again buying from any store.

What carry/stand bags are people using these days? I've got an older Callaway bag I've had for several years now, its actually an alright bag but overall the pockets aren't that great, I'd say it might be a tad heavy and the club divider arrangement really rustles me, as it can only fit two clubs max per divider, and the fabric makes it a pain in the ass sometimes.

Looking for lightweight, big velour pocket and large dividers (doesn't have to be a lot of dividers, I'm happy to put all my irons in one or two spots).

I've only carried Ping Hoofer bags. Right now I'm carrying the 4 series and like it. I had a Hoofer last year and decided to get something smaller and a little lighter but I wish there was 1 or 2 more pockets on the 4 series like the hoofer has.

Best travel bag these days? Have a junky old Founders club one that is long in the tooth. Preferably soft or semi soft shell, hard shell is a pain to get into some cars.<br />

I got some spikeless Footjoys because they look good, I don't think large spikes are all that necessary, and spikes get more dirt all over my car. I wish I could use Eccos but their golf shoes don't fit my foot very well.
