Kinda surprising still no announcement since we are 1 week away til round 1 starts. Tiger just going to roll up to Augusta on Monday unannounced lol

Major being overvalued has made mini-stars out of players like Shaun Michel.
They've also helped John Daly stay a household name despite the fact that he has 5 career wins in 27 years and pretty much one of the worst records of all time when it comes to low finishes, missed cuts, withdrawals, etc.

The second major, the British Open, made him a "legend". He would have been a one-hit wonder. Two majors is pretty special. Just ask Andy North.

5 wins including 2 majors is pretty strong even if he is a total trainwreck of a human.

I'd say his 1st major made him a legend. He may stay in golf minds longer due to getting a 2nd major, but the way he won that PGA, that was stuff of legend.

Yes, the PGA was special. It is my opinion The Open solidified him. He is the ultimate American and the shot that Rocca made to get into a playoff would have crushed most people. Daly went out though and crushed Rocca.

I hope he won't be a distraction and play 9 holes and WD. He is hurting his legacy more and more with these faux comebacks.

To the junior golfer under the age of 12, all they really know about Tiger "live" is him dropping out of tournaments.

If this keeps up for another few years, we will all remember this a lot.

He is also playing weekly games by not saying he is withdrawing until the very last minute. Just like the Master this week. He loves the buzz around him.

In this case it's actually not last minute. At the Masters you don't have to commit the Friday prior by 5pm like a PGA Tour event.

Sadly, this news is not a surprise to most. His body simply cannot handle the stress of what it takes to compete on the PGA Tour. Or most accurately, can't handle what he thinks he needs to do to prepare. Honestly, I think he'd be better off if he'd take the Bruce Lietzke route and simply not practice until the week of an event. I think he'd be able to make it through an occasional event that way.

So I heard a rumor that Tiger's next set of irons will be TM that are milled from a solid block like the new wedges they have. Not that he will have a chance to test them ever at this rate.

Gotcha. He still should have pulled out earlier if he knew. Tons of stories saying he might play that he could have kaboshed. He likes the attention and it probably helped his book sales.

Hope he doesn't WD from the press conference. He will be hammered about his back.
