i guess they were talking about a year from now and how fast TW could decline in the priority list. not very far given trevino/player/nicklaus are higher than TW right now.
He'll never drop below Priority Level 18 because he's a Life Member of the Tour since he has > 20 career wins. That will get him into most events (see how often Vijay Singh is still playing) since it has priority ahead of the way a majority of Tour players qualify (by being Top 125 in the prior season's Fed Ex Cup). Pretty sure all of the Invitationals (e.g., Arnie's tournament, the RBC) have Life Members > Top 125 Fed Ex standings so he'll qualify for those if he wants to play.
That is, the fields never get filled before they get to Tiger's lowest possible level. So his status as a Tour member for like 85% of events won't be in question. He'll be in the field if he wants to be. He's good at the Masters and PGA forever and The Open until he's 60.
He's already *not* qualified for WGC and Fed Ex events, or events like the winner's only Tournament of Champions in January. So that's a fait accompli until he plays better - he won't be in those fields.
So the only exception, really the only 'drama' imo where someone would have to make a decision is the US Open. He will no longer be qualified automatically as of next season (2018). But the USGA reserves the right to exempt anyone they want and ldo they would exempt Tiger if he wants to play.
So really his status is baked in. With > 20 wins (the 'Life Member' level), you're basically going to play any week you want, with the exception of WGC/Fed Ex events which don't allow for sponsor exemptions or invitations by design.
