He just doesn't have it now. WHIIIIIIIINEEEEEEEE

Too much going thru the motions on the course. Too many distractions off the course. Alec Miceli doesn't help... what a fat dyke

He's just not putting like he used to. He makes 4-5 30 footers today, that could have been 66 easy.

He is losing his vision. Hes not blind but he isnt reading putts well any more. His misses are by a pretty large margin whereas before he was dead nuts all the time.

A 66 doesn't put him near the lead... and making 4-5 30 footers in a round happens like once a month.

I feel like he's struggling on par 5's (used to shoot 10 under every tourney on par 5's) and his Mickelson-like putting from w/in 10 feet are the two biggest contributors to higher #'s than we expect. (not that he's a bad putter overall, just seems to miss whenever a make would swing a lot of momentum his way)

Yeah maybe for the average tour player, but we're talking about the GOAT. He was close to 100% from inside 30 feet in his heyday.

I'd agree if you change the idea that he was draining 30 footers to what he was actually doing which was sticking 8 iron to 12 feet and draining more <15 footers more than anyone.

Tiger spoiled us by hitting so maybe 160 yard shots to 12 feet. Seemed like he'd do it every time. Now it seems like he's just hitting 3w, 7i to 30 feet and ho-humming around par every round.

The strokes gained putting is a great stat for showing how someone really putted. Rather than looking at it the old way and saying oh Tiger had 34 putts Thursday and 24 putts Friday therefore he must of putted better Friday, you can now go to strokes gained putting and see he putted worse statistically. 1.5 shots give up to the field Friday and only 1 on Thursday. He says he putted better and I'm sure he felt that he hit better putts all day, but they're still not dropping when they should. Hopefully he runs good over the weekend on the greens.

Man if Tiger didn't exist, golf forum would probably have 1/3 the posts that it does this year

Nxt kinda makes the point I was going to make below, but maybe I can help.

You sound like a guy who's actually watching Tiger compete and you can't help but notice that, say, he's hit a lot of greens without getting a lot of good looks. Or he's had iron in his hands on par-5s, and rather than a look at eagle/kick-in birdie, he escapes with par. Or maybe you've been watching Rory constantly getting good looks from 15 ft and thinking, "Man, it's gonna be hard to beat that guy when we're outside him every hole."

You are doing it wrong. Forget what you are seeing, it's deceiving. You have to crunch the numbers. If he made anything, he'd be crushing. You may be at a disadvantage if you don't have my commitment to logic, mathematical rigour, and Tiger Woods, but good luck!

FYP

All I did was point out the strokes gained putting stat and how it is a more effective way to assess someone's putting.

PS. Tiger Woods' proximity to the hole this week - 30' 1" Rory McIlroy 29' 2". Holy crap Rory is hitting it 11" closer than Tiger on average!

It does. But then the fanboys start posting and the REAL GOLF FANS come in quickly and put them in their place for only caring about Tiger!

The supposed haters post more about Tiger than any "fanboys" by an order of magnitude. They go on for pages on end bemoaning all the attention and coverage he gets while somehow missing the irony that the vast majority of their time is spent obsessively focusing on Tiger Woods.

hahaha shu havnt you heard that cut before? its a joke from the jim rome show where he interviews tiger and the only answer he gets to every question is the golf course looks good my golf swing feels good i like my chances.

here is a similar interview and around the 1:50 mark i think he asks tiger about the upcoming turny. this was right after the whole affair deal.
http://youtu.be/xmfxTGdgJMU its not as funny as the original interview but i cant find it.

Bad application of the wrong central tendency.

# of birdie putts less than or equal to 5 feet:
McIlroy: 4
Woods: 2

# of birdie putts less than or equal to 10 feet:
McIlroy: 7
Woods: 7

# of birdie putts less than or equal to 15 feet:
McIlroy: 14
Woods: 9

# of birdie putts less than or equal to 20 feet:
McIlroy: 18
Woods: 15

# of birdie putts > 20 feet:
McIlroy 6
Woods 10

McIlroy is getting it closer, and your 11" gap in their averages obscures that.
