Plasticy and trashy is still a step up from the previous skanks tho.

She's probably got a great personality to make up for the plastic trashiness.

At least he won't have to worry about DJ banging her while he's not watching.

At least he can recommend a good back doctor for her in the future

If Tiger knew a good back doctor we would be playing this week.

All it took to fix Tiger's back was his watching Sergio win a major.

At this point Tiger is like Charlie Brown trying to kick a football.

I remember hearing the in 90's that Tiger's swing and power exertion wouldn't last long-term.

I bet most would take the trade-off of being a dominating golfer for 15 years and then not being able to play again vs. being a competitive golfer for a lifetime.

Maybe.

There are so many golfers competitive in their 40s and it still is strange to see that Tiger isn't even playing.

I think he is definitely hurt and in physical pain. I would probably take the under of every winning a PGA event again. Which is amazing for a golfer who would win events in historic streaks.

A lumbar fusion? That doesn't sound good for his game even if it makes his pain go away.

He honestly needs to give up the game now just to maintain a healthy life, if that's even possible at this point.

He sure is having a lot of surgeries apparently just to get back to playing competitive golf vs. adjusting to just healing.

His swing will have to change to avoid putting pressure on his back and making things worse. There is non-zero chance that he might have some type of permanent issue.

I think most doctors would advise a patient to heal and not go back to playing a game that put you in the surgeon's office in the first place.

I just don't see him coming back to just make cuts. He is far too competitive to play ceremonial golf at venues he dominated.

Tough decision for him to make as well as his doctor(s). Who knows what he is disclosing. He is under no obligation to inform anyone.

The surgery may make his leg pain go away. Even if it does, there well could be residual peripheral neuropathy--altered feelings (including numbness) in his legs. That can not be good for a top pro golfer.

Just wildly speculating here--not a doctor, but I did have back/leg pain in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

what odds would be fair that tiger never finishes another pga tournament? never finishes another major?

all these crazy bets have become more and more likely over the last 5 years. maybe we are getting to the very END and sooner not later.

or maybe we aren't...................

this is crazy........ but when i watch TW and michelle wie i see players that had simply amazing swings as teenagers who look horrible - and similar - now.... they both seem to really constantly on moderate to large fade even when the hole doesn't set up for it........... at least TW did before he took his hiatus. but he got away from foley who i think caused it. could be wrong about foley.

i can't believe his injuries don't seem to be healing properly or fast enough.

i maybe forgetting some obvious names. but have any other prominent - perpetually top 50 types - retired due to recurring injuries.

i still think TW should never have got into weightlifting so much......

this is way off-base but we had an amazing canadian tailback - white BTW - who constantly was getting injured and i think it turns out he was too strong for his tendons/ligaments. maybe too much weightlifting....... doubt this is TW but definitely weightlifting would have changed his body structure and muscle memory which is so key in golf. not so much in many other athletic activities.

I'm optimistic this surgery might help him lead a relatively pain-free life where he can play with his kids. He probably needs to give up the idea of competitive golf though. It's a shame because I wanted him to have one more comeback in him.

I was watching some random TV poker a couple of days ago and I think they were interviewing Alex Torelli and he was talking about elite competitors or something and he stated that Tiger was first golfer to bench 350lbs and that he had set a new standard. (for what, I have no idea)

It would seem our bodies are designed to not put so much pressure on with massive weights. Tiger Woods was doing SEAL training but he isn't invading Afghanistan. He is hitting a ball into a little hole in Florida.

Perhaps the same thing happened with David Duval. I don't think anybody knows the real answer and it is individual and mental too. Complex.

Well, this seemed poised to be his year back with all the tournaments scheduled and then it appears there is even more uncertainty and yet another back surgery.

Back surgeries can take years to heal. I don't know a doctor that would advise a patient to violently swing a club to hit a ball where you pound the ground. A plugged lie in a sand-trap requires huge force.

So four back surgeries in three years...Sort of means he has had three failed back surgeries in a short-time frame.

I would be surprised if he plays next year. Maybe he will take off for a few years and try one historic comeback.

Steve Kerr (coach of GS Warriors) is out again because of lingering complications from back surgery 2 years ago. He puts on a brave face but it honestly sounds like agony. He had this advice in a news conference:

Quote:
Last season, serious back problems sidelined Kerr for 43 games. Details of the issues he dealt with then were harrowing, involving leaking spinal fluid and debilitating headaches. Kerr had undergone offseason surgery to repair a ruptured disk, but complications forced him to have another procedure and take a leave of absence at the beginning of the season.

“I can tell you if you’re listening out there, stay away from back surgery,” Kerr said. “I can say that from the bottom of my heart. Rehab, rehab, rehab. Don’t let anyone get in there.”
I hope, if this latest surgery allows Tiger to live (relatively) pain-free, that he take Kerr's advice and hangs up the clubs altogether. He is playing with fire - in fact for all we know, his current back pain is caused more by all the surgeries, than by any original injury.
