i think its fair to say that jack had more competetive #2's he had to face.
tiger seems to have to fend off more of the guy's who are playing above the rim or running hot for that particular weekend.........but it doesnt appear that he has a solid #2 to constantly battle.
except for phil maybe?.......but even though i love phil, the guy always seems to find a way to throw it all away.......so i dont really think tiger has the same kind of competition that jack had.
could it be possible as well that the over all level of competition these days is so consistent that its hard to solidify a consistent #2?
if this is the case, then this would lend to how good tiger is because there is no doubt that he over shadows the field.
we have a point system for golf rankings these days. how long has this point system been in effect? if it wasnt around during jack's hey days, why doesnt the golf experts or anyone who's interested, applie it the same way to jack's career and see the results vs. the fields he was up against?
seems like a good way to see the disparity between jack and his competition compared to tiger and his competition.
also, if jack was in the lead in points.......which i would imagine he was.......you can also see if there was a bigger "bunching" of great players near the top compared to what tiger has to face these days.
