Re: Road to break 90
Yes, I have noticed an improvement in my approach game, too. Based on what ship said. I use a modified version though. For the most part I ignore the flag and first look at the center of the green. If a bad bunker is left but right isn't so bad I might adjust my aim a little right. Or depending on where the berms are behind the green that might affect my target line, etc. Basically every approach shot I hit now I try to calculate the best spot to aim for based on main likely scenarios. For the most part it's "center of the green". Anyway ignoring the flag stick has helped me to focus on these other things that matter a lot more. All I think about now is hitting the green and getting my 2 putts and being out of there. If first putt drops, great, but we know those are rare. Hitting approach shots are my favorite part of golf right now. There's something so awesome about hitting a 7 iron and seeing it hearing right where you wanted and looking up at the path then down at the green then back up and thinking "be right" then watching it plop on the green. It's really a fun part of golf trying to hit those greens from 500 feet away. I used to think driving was the best part, now all I care about is hitting it in the fairway 230-270 and I'll take it.
