Re: Road to break 90

thx guys

I'm not gonna start "road to break 80" topic, bcos it's might take a while. My plan now is to break 90 more and more often on different courses.
Euro2012 starts in 2weeks, got tickets for 7 matches, and plan to play about 7 rounds on 4 different courses

also just realized that my 2 main goals for the season are completed: breaking 85 and HCP <16
single digit HCP and <80 round would be sweet, but that's a lot of work, although I'm so motivated that I can't say it's impossible

#dfb89 it's a golfshot application

Congrats LFC! I don't mean to diminish your score but I was just wondering if Slopes are calculated the same way on European courses as they are on US courses? That course shows as 128 slope when it only is 5800 yards long

Re: Road to break 90

it's 5780meters -> that's 6321 yards

don't know how is it calculated but as I mentioned before- it's rather a really easy course

ed: oh I see on that golfshot scorecard it's says 5285, don't know what the hell is it

ed2: ok I know. It is 5780meters, but golf shots thinks it is yards and because I set "meters" in settings it calculated 5780yards into 5285 meters, which is of course wrong.
so 128 slope for 6321 yards seems good ?

Ah k, that makes sense. And yeah I mean its reasonable, one thing I've learned is course ratings and slopes are kinda random. Congrats again!

Re: Road to break 90

Wow, you crushed it. Congratulations. Did playing in a tourney help you stay more competetive? I haven't broken 90 but I've noticed playing with someone else sometimes makes me play better as I get competitive.

128 is a pretty tough slope. Your rating is a bit under 72 but I think that's still a tougher-than-average course for a par 72.

Re: Road to break 90

yeah, I think playing in a tournament helped me a lot
I'm much more concentrated in a tourney than during a casual round. Also played in a flight with great guy, we had much fun so it also helped (we talked a lot so I didn't have to think about my score/next shot etc)

Re: Road to break 90

i'm playing in a tourney just for that reason. someone else said he got good playing for $$$$ at a country club (i'll note rich beem - the only guy who took down tiger sunday at a major "by some definition" had a huge gambling background)

how long was that that 18th that you got a 3 on? 490 yards or even longer. very very impressive

scorecard says it's 417m so about 456yards but it's downhill so it plays a little shorter. It's usually driver + i7 for me.
Green is much lower from when you hit your 2nd shot, b'cos I can't hit a backspin etc I'm landing the ball about 5meters in front of a green and hope it stays on the green.

But it's a tough hole- tricky aiming from the tee. OB all along right side. Small water on the left (it plays from the tee), and a tree line to the hole

"when I feel my swing" distance is rather not a problem for me. I hit my driver usually 220m (240yards) + carry.
My problem now is that my next club in my bag is 5hybrid...

Re: Road to break 90

short update
Euro 2012 is running, 1st week was great, watched POL-GRE, ESP-ITA, POL-ROS, POL-CZE
great atmosphere on and outside the stadiums, got pics but probably it's not a place to post them.

Planned to play much more rounds of golf, but managed to play only 3. Without practicing since my "82" didn't expect much, but I'm very happy.
1st one was Lisia Polana in Warsaw- 93
2nd was Sierra in Wejherowo- 92 I believe.

Finally 3rd was Toya near Wroclaw, very tough but I think my favourite course in Poland so far (scenery wise). At the begging could find a rythm but than booom
89, with nice back 9
on 14th it's ~110m over the water, had i9 but just before a shot decide on PW.... 2m too short and into water. didn't know if there is a drop zone so started on the tee with i9 and made a par.
13th was just bad around the green

On Thursday there is first quarterfinal CZE-POR which of course I'm going to, so next round in Warsaw

But what's more important is this weekend- Club Championship and I'm looking forward it. Just a little afraid that I'm not practicing lately at all, only few rounds. But on the other hand maybe it's good, b'cos before I practiced a lot but didn't play much.

As I mentioned before this season- top20 is my goal. I had to score 2 rounds under 90 but I'm very positive about it.

Keep fingers crossed!

Re: Road to break 90

That's a very promising back 9, and tough course slope too. If I've got water to fly and I'm thinking of dropping down 1 club I usually snap out of it and opt for the stronger club. Lesson learned! Been there done that. And I'll still do that. You may have had a +1 back 9 though.
