Ko O Lau Golf Club (Oahu.HI) Hardest course I've ever played. Rumor has it Tiger shot a 76 here and said he played well. I shot 96 as a 4 handicap. It's ridiculos how hard it is.

Oak Tree Golf Club (Edmond, OK) Fantastic course and home to tons of PGA golfers. Had US Senior Open there last year

Pebble Beach

Circling Raven (Worley, Idaho)

Wolf Creek (Mesquite, Nv)

Dallas National Gotta put home course on the list, right?

Wife and i played circling raven during the trip we also visited eureka montana and the Wilderness Club. Enjoyed that course so much we headed right out again and did another 18. Great fun. Did you sample the $6 breakfast buffet?

Many hi-lights from that BC, Wash, Idaho, Montana trip.

I feel like such a peasant reading this thread, haven't really played many famous, expensive or exclusive courses.

I really liked the Gallery Golf Club North Course in Tucson
I played Torrey south once, worthwhile experience but wouldn't say I recommend it as a golf course
For western PA courses I like Old Stonewall

Spook Rock GC, Ramapo, NY

Where my cousins and me would go to play golf when I was in high school.
Great, woodsy course. Nothing like playing Autumn golf in NY.

*****

Bear's Best GC, Las Vegas, NV

The toughest course in Vegas - that's also fair! You can really score on this one - either way. It has the best views in Vegas, too.

*****

Rancho Park GC, Los Angeles, CA

The busiest muni in the country...so sometimes the greens are not in the best of shape. But the holes are fun, challenging, and picturesque. and where else can you birdie a hole where Arnold Palmer once scored a 12?

*****

Kapalua Plantation, Maui, HI

Just an amazing course...beautiful, in the best shape of any course I've ever played on. It is pristine. Love going for it in 2 on the 600+ yard par 5 after hitting a drive on the crews (it goes downhill).

*****

And I have to include my home courses in Amelia Island Plantation, FL, because even after 40+ years of playing golf, they are still my favorite 54 holes in the world:

*****

Long Point GC, Amelia Island Plantation, FL

The most challenging course I have ever played - and the one I've played the most in my life. It's not long, but it winds it's way through woods, marsh, and besides the ocean in one of the most gorgeous natural places for golf in the world. You better hit it in the fairway and on the green - or bring a few sleeves of balls with you.

*****

Amelia Links Ocean, Amelia Island Plantation, FL

Some amazing ocean holes here...the 15th is astounding - uphill, directly at the ocean - to a tiered green.

*****

Amelia Links Oakmarsh, Amelia Island Plantation, FL:

Short, frustratingly difficult, and gorgeous. Some amazing holes on this one. And the 17th fairway is in my parent's backyard!

thanks for this post. tempted to visit Florida for a golf trip.

Bear's Best is my favourite Vegas course. Love the 17th. The setting for that green is one of the finest looks anywhere.

I've lived in the Jax area for a long time and haven't played any of these Amelia Island courses. I'm gonna have to try to get out there.

I really only have a couple noteworthy courses:

TPC Stadium Sawgrass - had a buddy that worked as a cart guy out here for a little while. Played it about 7-8 times total. Fun course. 17 is always a good time. The Valley course right next to the Stadium is nice as well.

ABCC - Atlantic Beach (FL) Country Club. Played it Friday. It's a new course, opened about a year and a half ago. Pretty difficult, always windy. The greens are hard and fast. The web.com tour championship is being held here in October.

You can get a Golfnow hot deal for the two Links courses...Ling Point is pirate, unless you're staying at the Plantation.

Next time I'm in the area, I want to try ABCC...looks interesting.

I almost included Sawgrass...really nice facility and courses.

Have you played North Hampton? That's in the Yulee area in between Amelia and Jax. Great course.

Fwiw we are similar handicaps and I usually play the one ups most places, any 7200+ course is just pain IMO. Want to play during wsop? I'm out there 6 weeks

Coyote Springs and Reflection Bay both rougher than BB. I like all 3......I really enjoy Nicklaus designed courses for some reason.
