You know, of the 100s of people I've played with while conspicuously using my rangefinder on every fairway shot...NO one has asked me that question.

Problem is the one retard is a good friend. Who frustrates us on the golf course with his slow play. Heck this trip he checked the wind on a putt. It was only blowing 10MPh

Have you told him that he's slow and it's frustrating?

Re: Range finder vs GPS

Has anyone used this one before?
It's Callaway but using Nikon lenses.
On sale for $350 plus another 15% off so about $300 before taxes.

Re: Range finder vs GPS

Sounds like Bushnell is the superior rangefinder. What is considered to be the best GPS device?

all these new devices take the sport out of the game, the clubs and balls are advanced enough...keep it old school!

Re: Range finder vs GPS

I worked at Garmin for a few months I can tell you with certainty that most GPS units, even the very high accurate ones used in avionics, are no more than 15 yards accurate. I think you can estimate +/- 15 yards in your head so...

Agree, but the nits always find a way to be !@£%!£$%. I have played a few tournaments with guys who insist on walking up to the green on any shot inside 150. FFS!

I have have the LR550 which has more than enough effective range (550 y) and is $50 less than the one you mentioned. I've been using mine for almost two seasons and it works great. It even has a 'pinseeker' feature that helps alliviate the problem of getting a false yardage to something in the background. A couple of my friends have the Bushnells and they've both had problems with the lenses FWIW.

Re: Range finder vs GPS

Get one that you can input independent data for the Bass Ponds at a course. Your 15th club should always be a spinner bait.

Re: Range finder vs GPS

Bump for (and I really should merge the two threads on this subject) comparisons between Bushnell slope edition (http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Slope...=cm_cr_pr_pb_t) vs. Bushnell standard edition (http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Stand...ef=pd_sim_sg_1). I got a $500 gift card to Golfsmith and have decided to get one of these. However, 1) there is a $100 difference in price between the two units, and 2) evidently the slope edition is banned in some competitions, although I play in very few events where that would even be a factor.

Basically, just seeing if anyone around here has the slope version and can compare to previous ones and whether it's worth the extra $100, which is a lot of money and is apparently the only difference. Read a ton of reviews on amazon and people generally praised the feature but didn't really compare it.

Thanks.

Re: Range finder vs GPS

^^

don't forget the Leupold GX-4 which provides the benefits of slope but the flexibility to not have slope and be tournament OK.
