+7 with 17 putts thru 9. Cruising.

Bet is done, I won by 15. I honestly didn't even feel like I was at much of a disadvantage to a full bag.

Putted like a champ with the R11, 30 putts total including an off the green hole out on 18. Screw blading the 9, I may start putting with the driver as a rule. :-)

So, I executed my game plan about as well as I could have hoped. No penalties, avoided big numbers, hit an absolute TON of GIR+1s, and putted the driver pure as the driven snow. My friend never had a chance.

I felt completely comfortable the whole day, this actually enabled me to more fully appreciate the advantages of a conservative style. With the addition of a putter and a wedge it seems like there would be almost no way I would ever make worse than bogey.

I was focused almost solely on keeping the ball in play, making GIR+1s and 2-putting. GIRs and 1 putts were a bonus but I felt like there was virtually no risk of hitting it out of play or taking penalties, which is a major departure from when I play with a full bag and average about a penalty per round.

I hit it into 1 bunker, and short-sided myself, but was able to just chop it out to the back of the green and convert a long 2-putt. Other than that, very little stress all day. Capped it off with a 0-putt birdie on 18 and carded a very satisfying 83.

Thanks to anyone who followed this thread. I hope it was at least mildly interesting.

Very impressive. I figured you'd probably be in the 88-90 range, didn't think you'd put together an 83. Nice.

Nah, he took it pretty well. I think he realized after the 3rd or 4th hole that I was gonna take it barring something crazy. He was getting more upset at himself for hitting bad shots than at me for being able to play well with 2 clubs. I do think he was a bit taken aback by how well I was putting though, we were both joking that I never putt as well with a putter.

Awesome job. Although I'm not convinced you didn't sandbag all of us!
