Re: Practice swing

As I feel I have been taken out of context, as I alluded to in my follow up post, my reason for not taking a practice swing is purely mental, it has nothing to do with "time wasting what so ever".

Each to their own I guess, but to re-inforce what I was saying is that if I take practice swings I tend to get caught up in technical issues and I have found I have shot better accordingly by trying to shot with a clear mind.

If it is a "tricky shot"I will practice it, but for the stock standard shot other than the waggle I just hit it.

Works OK for me but it may not be right for others.

Cheers

Re: Practice swing

To people who are professional golfers now... did you not take practice swings when you were first learning? If so, why not?

Re: Practice swing

This is the craziest thread in a long time.

Do what makes you feel comfortable, but recognize that doing something else might make you more comfortable if you tried it. Pretty sure this goes for everyone, as I have seen tour pros do almost everything that is listed in this thread so there clearly isn't one universal right way to do it.

Re: Practice swing

I was paired up with a guy who would take 3 practice swings, pose on the last swing, get up to the ball, step back take one more, and then hit. He shot around a 120, and tilted the hell out of me all day.

Re: Practice swing

Well, there might not be a universally right way to do things, but some are clearly wrong.

Nowhere in my posts did I say not to take a practice swing. Amazing how so many people have distorted the facts ITT.

Maybe if you didn't act like such a dick 95%+ of the time you posted, people would be more inclined to read and digest the entirety of your message. (i always read them just in case something mindblowing is revealed, but for the casual viewer...)

Recently I received a PM wondering why I don't give more advice on some of the swing videos and such, and that's a fair question. My response was that 95% of the time when I give a thoughtful and honest opinion of what I see and read, it gets ignored or worse, degraded as incorrect or inaccurate.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge of golf and the golf swing and such, that's what golf is all about. But why should I bother if the advice is usually denigrated? Even if people think I'm a dick, that doesn't make me wrong.
