Bubba might be a whiny punk, but he is so absurdly talented. That was an amazing approach shot on 9.

On the other hand, LOOOOOL BUBBA. Literally hit a 30 footer about six feet.

Or he'll just make a 35 footer for birdie no biggie.

Rose not flinching yet. I expect him to have a couple of hiccups, but wouldn't bet against him when the pressure ratchets up tomorrow.

This is just about the perfect 54 hole leaderboard. Two stars in 1st and 2nd, a true underdog in 3rd, and then a gap to every one else. Easy narrative to understand: will someone go out and shoot a number to win a medal? Can Fraser hold his nerve tomorrow or even challenge for the gold? Or will he flame out early and make for a match play situation?

I think threesomes will make for an interesting dynamic too. Only those three within 5 shots of 1st but about a dozen within 5 shots of 3rd.

I was all excited to see nine people crawl onto the bronze medal stand for a big T-3, but apparently they'll have playoffs for those spots. Disappointing.

They should make the swimmers do that too, like have them dive for rings and the first one that comes up with three of them wins.

Swimming is all about handing out as many medals as possible. Golf is a respectable sport.

2 strokes for grounding your club in a hazard imo.

Sounds like my dad about 20 years ago. The gymnast runs down a carpet and jumps off a horse for a total of 10 seconds and wins a gold. Hockey team plays 7 games for the same thing.

I've found this to be an interesting watch and especially like the course. The two guns lead. Its a pity the field leaves so much to be desired. I could see this tournament taking a special place in golf eventually with some tweaking. Tigers presence would have been huge if the could have done it like 8 years ago.

Kuchar up to 3rd? No way that lasts imo, though -6 on the last 6 ain't bad.

I think there are several things that will help improve the quality of the field in the future.

1. The public realizing that athletes were not staying home because of Zika. It was mostly just rich, male pro golfers staying home.
2. Bubba embracing the whole Olympic spirit and his comments about pro golfers having nothing to complain about compared to the amateurs will go a long way to changing mindsets.
3. A big name like Rose or Stenson winning gold.

Most of all though, I think the golfers themselves will realize that they (as a cohort) did not look good skipping this event. It was as if they had something to lose with respect to Zika that others did not.

Zika would be nasty no matter who got it.

They're spending way too much time talking about the bronze medal "race", which really isn't a race and hasn't been for several holes.

Course is nice. They're going to end up with a very good top-3 despite the weak field.

Bubba Watson, who tied for eighth in the Olympic Golf Tournament, tried to sum up the experience. "It's humbling,'' e said. "We should never complain again. We're so blessed. When you look at these othe countries, and these athletes that train for years, not just hours, years, and they got 30 seconds or get got a minute.... And I get to show up at Augusta every year from now on because I won (the Masters) there. So it is humbling for sure. This is the greatest thing I've ever done.''
