They need to change the format. It's going to be like the John Deer classic without the big guys.

I'll probably watch some because of the curiosity factor, but in general I have little to no enthusiasm for Olympic golf. It's just another tournament, these guys compete against each other all year long as it is.

They should have just made it an all amateur event.

Doesn't Jordan Spieth play the John Deer?

Actually he does - so it will be worse then the John Deere.

not sure what level you guys are on but its definitely not at all like this year's John Deere since the events overlap. Also, Spieth is not defending his John Deere title because he didn't think it would be appropriate to pass on the Olympics and still play that week.

Zach Johnson or Steve Stricker gonna win the John Deere based on being the two best golfers in the field this time plus their course history.

Someone should have told Matt Kuchar the format.

i'm not sure where the dividing line is between amateur and professional in many sports but i do think golf is fairly simple and they should do that.

Golf channel/nbc doing work trying to pump this thing up. I would have liked to see a format similar to the us am. Stroke play then top x advance onto matchplay bracket.

I agree that they blew it on the format.

Golf has an image issue. People think of it as a country club sport for the wealthy, much like skiing. Maybe somehow the olympics will change that. It would be great to see some unknown players from small countries win meddles.

Graeme DeLaet 2nd place

I can't imagine DeLaet holding it together on the final 18 holes if he starts them in the top 2.

you never know... Dj finally got it together in a major. maybe delaet will be the same with his 1st big win on tour - olympics = close enough. his problems seem a bit more substantial than DJ's were.

With his chipping yips watching him come down the stretch with a lead would be nerve-wracking. They said the course was soft though so that has to help.
