Cross Post from Phoenix thread but think some of you other guys would enjoy these...

here's the write up for the golf trip that can only be described as epic. I could retire from golf right now and be a happy man for all of the golf, hanging with friends, poker and degenerating that went on for the 5 days of this trip.

Trip Details: Total of 12 guys took part in this trip all from Phoenix, AZ. Four rounds of golf. Stayed at my buddies cabin directly behind the 14th tee at Meadow Course at Forest Highlands in Flagstaff, Arizona which is 2 hours North of Phoenix.

Saturday Day 1- Leave Phoenix at 6:15 AM to for 9 AM tee at Seven Canyons in Sedona. From what I understand, they have just gone back to almost fully private again with no tee times on golf now. The course conditions have improved considerably over the last 12-18 months in my opinion. Greens weren't lightning fast by any means but solid bent grass greens with tons of slope. Here's a few of the pics. A few of the fairways hadn't been mowed yet early in the round as you can probably tell but no biggie.

Finish the round at Seven Canyons and drive up 89A to make a beeline to Forest Highlands. Here's a few pics of the cabin my buddy's family owns. A few of the pics show the views from the living room/kitchen which looks directly up towards San Francisco Peaks. It is perfect for a golf outing and is 100% comfortbable for 12 guys. Please note the picture of the fridge doesn't show the 450+ beers in coolers outside lol.

Sunday Day 2 - We get up obviously all sober as could be. Drive over 20 mins or so to Pinewood CC in Munds Park which is about 15 miles South of Flagstaff. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the round at Pinewood since I was far too busy slamming beers. The course itself sits right off the I-17 and doesn't have the prettiest views in the state by any means but the condition of this course this time of the year is amazing for what it is. Greens are extremely pure and fast. Almost every green is a turtleback so it's a lot harder course than what it appears to be. Saying that, it is a pretty short course so there is birdies to be had. This course is semi-private so you can play it on golf now and I would highly recommend it as it's a very fun course.

Monday Day 3 - Time for Forest Highlands. First up is the Meadow course which our group has always declared the more fun of the two courses at Forest Highlands. It's always ranked a little lower than Canyon but to us it just flows better and is a little more open. Conditons are just outstanding and pure. Feels like the closest I will ever get to Augusta National conditions. Green speed here was listed at 11.9. Here's a few pics.

Day 4 Tuesday - Canyon Course Forest Highlands. I don't have a ton of pics as a lot of the awesome holes we played when it was extremely shady because the course winds in and out of a Canyon. Greens were just about identical speed to meadow but maybe a fraction slower if anything. Course is downright magestic but there's a few holes that are extremely hard and there's a weird arrangement where every other hole is a par 3 for awhile...but obviously this place is always listed as one of the top 3 courses in the state for a reason. I didn't take as many pics as I should because I was struggling mightly during this round probably due to being a degen for the three previous days my body was basically shutting down it felt like. I brought no game to the round but still had a great time.

Day 5 Wednesday - got up pretty early and headed home safe.

Hope you guys enjoy the pics and if you have any questions or comments I would be happy to address them.

Did I tell you I played Royal County Down this summer? Well, I did and it was incredible.

#4, Par 3 200

I hit a spectacular drive on this hole, followed by a great approach to 10 feet and a 3 putt for bogey.

#10, I hit a great shot here to 10 feet or so, made par.

#16 was a driveable par 4. I came up a bit short left in the pot bunker

For those that are wondering, the pricetag is expensive, but the golf was out of this world. The green and my caddie were worth every penny I paid and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

It actually wasn't too bad. The green areas are fairly benign and the fescue in areas of play was quite whispy. There were about 6 blind tee shots, so having a caddie helped a lot.

I shot 90. I topped a few balls off the tee into the gorse so those holes were a mess.

Autumn golf... definitely the best time of year to play. Except for the leaves on the ground that hide your f***'n ball.

The lefty appears to be in trouble on that par 3 unless he draws it even into left pin positions. Nice pics!

He normally hits a draw, but that one didn't come back. 220 from blues, not much room for error. Thanks for the compliment!

funny you mention this 'cause i was just thinking about it on the drive home from work. the group of guys i play/gambool with have a 'leaf rule' for autumn conditions when the ground is covered. give an honest effort for a few minutes to find your ball, and if you can't find it just drop w/out penalty at the location you think it should be. what else are you going to do...carry a rake?

Well... I don't know how you play golf, but I would proceed under Rule 27-1c of the USGA Rules of Golf which explicitly states "If a ball is lost as a result of not being found or identified as his by the player within five minutes after the player’s side or his or their caddies have begun to search for it, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5)."

Nah, j/k... drop and go works for me.

A few pics (taken this May) from Montgomerie in Belek, Turkey since the European Tour is playing the Turkish Airlines Open there this week. It's a really pretty and fun course - when we played it we were practically alone on the course and it was a really beautiful day:
