Let's forget the fact that we're on the Internet on our couches for a second and be serious.
They weren't high or drunk. This is ridiculous. It's 99.9999995% chance that they were simply hesitant and unsure of what to say about an ugly situation, and neither Watney nor his caddie are great speakers with a mike shoved in their face.

Actually there have been quite a few players competing while high for reasons similar to that of using beta blockers. Including one former #1 ranked player.
Re: Official 2012 PGA Tour (non-majors) discussion thread
I enjoy having a beer or two when I'm under a bit of pressure and I know that the small buzz I get helps to calm my nerves. But the golf these guys play at the highest level I just assumed the very best players played it straight.
This is the first I've ever heard of any of those guys using PED's.
Re: Official 2012 PGA Tour (non-majors) discussion thread
Beta blockers are part of drug testing and thus unless you want a 500k fine you'll find another method of controlling your ****. There have been quite a few players who compete while smoking. Not gonna name names obviously but I know of 6 that 100% played stoned everyday. Not sure if that has changed or not with drug testing and a newer more athletic game than those that I know of from 10 years ago.
Re: Official 2012 PGA Tour (non-majors) discussion thread
Two people firing off anecdotal non-specific comments on a website about players playing high really has little to do with whether or not someone was high in THIS example. The bottom line is that it's obviously much, much, much more likely that this was just an awkward interview where player/caddie aren't great at dealing with the media and were nervous about saying the wrong thing in a controversial situation.
Re: Official 2012 PGA Tour (non-majors) discussion thread
You may think that, and if you do, please tell us what the caddy was doing then. What other explanations are there if you're so confident the guy wasn't high? Why would a caddy who obviously knows the rules and has been doing this for "11,12,13...14" lol be waving his hand that close to the green?
Re: Official 2012 PGA Tour (non-majors) discussion thread
so the PGA tour and TGC thought it wasn't enough to go up against the NFL playoffs, they decided to go F-M and compete w/ the national title game as well?
