what makes it tough? 2008 guys didn't have much rough trouble off fairways.... do they dry the greens out. pebble has tiny greens i think

Where you staying? Monterey? I'd imagine all the houses and Spanish Bay are booked by richies/players/celebs (probably Carmel, too).

2008 wasn't much trouble? -1 won on a course (Torrey) that usually takes mid teens on to win a regular season Tour event. Obviously they play the North Course one round but that only account for about 2 shots.

As for Pebble, the greens are super tiny and yes, they dry them out as well as the fairways.

The Open hasn't been played at Pebble nor will it ever be held there.

US Open par 71, Farmers par 72.

Over 3 shots this year between North and South. 3rd/4th round averages: 71.24, 72.53.

2008 US Open 3rd/4th round averages: 74.33, 72.87.

So, maybe 2 shots difference for US Open?

Not quite apples-apples because at US Open 14 played short on Sunday, and #6 set up as long par 4.

So I guess you are asking if they held Farmers in June what would the score be? Not a lot of difference IMO. Fairways better in June, rough thicker in June, greens probably a bit faster in Jan/Feb because they are poa. Temperatures maybe 5* warmer on average in June.
