Managed to remember to watch this this morning. Sergio crushed (aside from the dead pull hook on 18 after it was no longer in doubt). What, five birdies in a seven hole stretch on the back? No doubt he makes the RC team now one way or the other, which is good news.

Yeah, Sergio is on the team for sure now. It'll be interesting to see whether Poulter can knock Kaymer off the last spot. It looks like he just needs to make the cut at The Barclays to do it, they're nearly level on the world points list and Kaymer isn't playing this week. Olazabal is probably hoping so.

Re: Official 2012 PGA Tour (non-majors) discussion thread

Kaymer has like gone into the Witness Protection Program or something. Pretty amazing how he went from being the next big and World #1 exactly two years ago with incredible upside to just to totally MIA. Obviously Poulter would be the much better choice - particularly with his record last time around as a captain's pick. Kaymer automatically qualifying would be a huge gift to the US team.

I was talking with an old friend this morning who had spent the last year+ caddying for a couple of guys on both the PGA and web.com / Nationwide tours. He had some pretty interesting stories and then he mentioned how a friend of his just dumped Sergio Garcia last week at the behest of Adam Scott and Stevie Williams because I guess Sergio is a huge pain in the ass to work for - while I am a Sergio fan, I could totally see him being a nightmare employer. He then asked me "how did Sergio do this week?" Uhhh...

Kaymer did what seems to be the norm now, get really good then make changes. I think he wanted to change his swing so he could hit different shaped shots (IIRC). As with most it has backfired badly.

Praying he misses out on Auto qualification.

Good to have Sergio back on the team.

yeah for some reason i root for sergio even though he's prob the biggest bitch out there. his swing is just so damn awesome. i know many pros mention him when asked who they like to watch hit balls. one of my favorite shots ever was a 4 iron he hit from ~245 uphill. (even though faldo was on the call) Will link it later when I get on my laptop.

Yeah he tried to start hitting a draw. Was all fades up to that point. Then I think at some point he announced he was going to go back to only fading it, and that still hasn't worked. But he's still young as **** in golf years so he's got plenty of time to figure things out. (not that he's a lock to do so ldo)

Sorry for derailing the thread with Challenge Tour stuff. But last week I told you about the swedish guy Kristoffer Broberg who won two times in a row and followed up last week by finishing third. Today he posted a -9 in the first round of this weeks challenge tour. He's sick. I would love seeing him on the ET next year.

Rooting for Blixt to take this down.

Walker on his way to a fantastic round.

Jason is a friend of mine. He hits the ball further than anyone I've ever seen. Good kid too - would love to see him ship this.

On what was a day with 800 other good sports options to watch, actually made an effort to see the end of this tournament. Nice win for Blixt, good young player, could be in the mix for years to come. Entertaining back-9 finish as well. Was pulling for Singh to finally close one out this year.

It's too bad they can't play a round at this tourney at The Institute...since you have to have some type of top-secret clearance to get in there, it would be cool to at least see the course on TV.

Blixt took down his first. He's playing well and seem to be low on nerves, which is good for the coming years.

I already long for next season with Blixt and my friend David Lingmerth entering the PGA Tour.
