Almost 50 years and Heidi still has an effect on how sports is broadcast. link It's bothersome to me that 2 weeks ago CBS had no problem switching back to TGC after only 1 playoff hole.

The switch really sucked for guys like me who watch it on DVR with a delay.

I agree with Tuq that golf is much better watched recorded on a DVR, though I prefer most sports live, there is just too much downtime in golf. Its also one of those "once you try it you'll never go back" things, at least for me.

Agreed. Especially since they would never do so if Tiger and/or Phil were involved.

But 60 Minutes was awesome that night!

I certainly don't think I understand their business more than them. I am simply stating that there MUST be a reason they don't cover the down time and offering a few ideas as to what those might be. The most likely being CBS owns the footage and gives TGC a big finger at letting them profit.

I'm just trying to figure out why you're posting in the Jeopardy wagering thread.

I've mentioned this in the past 2 PGA Tour threads but since Tiger was involved here I guess people have taken more notice.

I guess we just put it down to stupid American golf coverage
I wasn't giving you crap. Really. If I pushed the line too close, then I apologize. It appears the only person that I can pretend to give crap to without triggering an incident is Brickie, who either gets me, or has me on ignore.

I don't know how you thought I had anything directed at you. It was kind of directed at kevin, but not really, because I kevin. I think I didn't disagree with anything you said on the topic.

I think there are about 4 categories.

1. CBS screwed up. Who believes this? Time will tell when we see how this kind of hand off evolves.

2. TGC screwed up. How could they have?

3. Undirected frustration at how this kind of hand off is handled.

4. something else.

5. Yeah, I said 4. CBS is BS'ing us with the graphics change thing, and that becomes a reason for a complaint against whatever they are really doing.

6. I lost my train of thought.

cant wait for the masters. I think this might be the 2nd longest "dry" stretch of the golf year in terms of interesting tourneys.

Players is my fav btw

Pretty neat that TW is adding events. Not sure what to make of it though.

Eh, he said at the beginning of the year he was going to add a couple of events to his schedule this year. PGA National (site of the Honda) is just a short drive from his house in Jupiter so it's a convenient one to add (and one that has been rumored for a long time).

I think it's partially to get more repetitions leading up to the Masters. And also a bit of goodwill towards the Tour.

Its what he needs is to add more events and play more. He isnt that Great player he once was and needs to realize it. Best place to work on his mental game and swing is on the course competing

I doubt Tiger cares about anything but himself. His past actions and conduct on the course display that.

He needs to play more competitive golf. Simple as that. You can practise as much as you like but it doesn't replicate real live play.

I make of it that he's a scrub who can no longer afford to thumb his nose at 75% of the regular tour stops as he did for the last decade-plus.

i vote for all of the above. improve his play and his image (image so he can make tens of millions again, or maybe just hang on to Nike)

obviously the more competitive rounds he plays with his new swing, the more comfortable he will get. and for someone who has played very little golf the last few years, any play he can get in won't hurt

Yep. Just needs to keep getting into contention, that is the last step to this comeback. Practice -> Tournaments -> Contention, he talks about that progression every time during these swing changes.
