Yes. I don't know anything about your swing (I recall that you're just getting into the game, but that's it) but this would probably be a good fit as a starter hybrid. Note that this is the "OS" model -- "offset" -- which is designed to be even easier to hit and to get the ball up in the air. If you're reasonably athletic you can probably generate enough clubhead speed to use a regular flex shaft.

is the difference between A2, A3, A4, etc just the year they came out or is there more too it?

i ordered the club because i'm sick of having a massive gap between my driver and 5 iron.

It's just the order they came out. A2, then A3, then A4, then A7 which is the most recent release (there wasn't an A5 or A6 for some reason). So the A4 is one generation back, I think it came out in '08.

Baumer, I'm also 27 and "reasonably athletic" and use a stiff shaft, but I have been playing for quite awhile. I am quite a bit shorter than most of the players I play with and I would 100% not play with a senior shaft.

And yeah, no club between driver and 5i is absurd.

That was me for a while, no club between drivre and 4i until I got my 3H. Still waiting for a good enough sail to snag something like a 4W to get that 230ish distance filled in.

Sweet. Thanks guys. I ordered it and should have it within a week.
19º with regular flex. Why does golf feel so much like a drug?

So, I don't have any golf shoes. Should I look into this asap?

others can give you better advice on golf shoes but yeah, i'd get some ASAP. my advice would be to get a very good pair too. you want them waterproof AND comfortable. please, make sure they are comfortable.

do you find yourself slipping a lot on shots?

I played at Craig Ranch last year while I had Nationwide status...nice free perk. But I am a member at Bent Tree CC in north Dallas. I loved it out at Craig Ranch. Fun place to practice, and it is a ghost town all week. Show up, grab a free cart, 2 bags of Pro V-1 range balls, and then play 18 in about 2.5 hours every time. I agree I don't like 14 from the tips but 1 box up it is a great hole. The back tee on 13 is never used, it really is like a 285 carry over the ravine/bunkers unless you want to go left where it's about 5 yards wide and will leave you 230 to the green.

haven't played it, but been out there a couple times, once for a job interview. You're right about it being a ghost town. My interview was at 10am on a Saturday and there were like 8 cars in the parking lot. That's been a few years, but I seriously doubt it's any better now.

2. Just wondering, does he drive the cart onto the green?

3. I once was playing behind a guy with one arm and we got stacked up on the teebox. He gives the ball a violent lash (playing from the back tees) and walks back to get a drink of water and looks at me and says "NOT BAD FOR A GUY WITH ONE ARM HUH? HAHAHAHA" and it was awesome.

You'll never hear me say anything negative about somebody dealt a crappy hand continuing on with life and sport like this. Once I watched in amazement for a while at a guy playing on one leg. Have also played with a guy with a prosthetic leg.

If everybody had that much drive and determination, the world would be a much better place. Regardless, we should all learn and reflect on things like this and not take what we have for granted.

What if he touched the ball at address and it moved?

After not swinging a club in about 6 years I just hit up the driving range at Vail GC in Colorado and hit the ball really well (had a bad baseball leg injury in May and was a bit worried about torque but ultimately felt no pain). Anyway I hit the ball really well, probably the best I've ever consistently driven the ball, and seemed to get my swing "down" for like the first time ever.

I'm wanting to get into golf so I guess I'll start hitting up the local driving range which is a cheap public course 2 minutes from my house.

The cool thing is my father-in-law gave me a pretty sweet set of his old clubs years ago and I've never used them yet but now I'm excited to try them out. He's a pretty sick golfer who is 59 and has recently qualified for the Houston amateur and Houston senior amateur. I think he's like a 6 handicap or something.

My clubs:
1w Callaway war bird Great big bertha 8.5*
3w Call. war bird Big Bertha
4w Call. war bird Great big bertha

Call. Big Bertha irons 2i-9i RCH firm flex series

Call. P, S, A, L, RCH firm flex series wedges (no idea the angle of these though)

I've never used an A or L wedge before and wouldn't know what to use them for anyway.

no idea what brand the putter is.

I might play a round this Saturday morning and will try to record my round. I've probably shot fewer than 20 rounds in my life and probably logged more triple-digit rounds than double-digit. If I shoot under 110 I'll probably be satisfied.

get a hybrid or two, for your 2,3,4 irons

the wedges are probably something like P-47 A-52 S-55 L-60

OK at the driving range the dude gave me a hybrid when I asked for a 3i. I didn't swing it at all as it still had the wrapper on it lol.

I'm not too worried about it, for whatever reason my 3i has always been my best club. I consistently hit it low, hard, and straight. It's my least comfortable swing but for whatever reason it works.

my shorter iron game has always been inconsistent in terms of putting either too much or too little strength into the swings and my chipping sucks. Putting is decent but my drives are terribly inconsistent with shanks and bad slices.

I've got a lot to work on so I'm excited to play Saturday and then see how much I can improve from there!

PHB you should probably get a higher-lofted driver. That 8.5 will be way harder to hit than a 10.5 or higher driver.

Received my Adams A4 3 hybrid today. Paid 2/3 of the cost of the club in shipping. I learned something today, $24.99 shipping = 24.99 + 20.00 shipping.

Damn international what-have-yous.

Still psyched to go test it out. Leaving for 9 in about 5 minutes!

Put a Adila NVS Proto in my driver and 3w. I like the driver shaft wayyy more than the 3w shaft for some reason.

played in league playoffs yesterday. we have the tee box from 4:30 to 5:30. we tee off on the 3rd hole (par 3 over a creek) and the single behind us asks if he can hit up. i say fine. we walk to the green as he hits. when we get up there he hustles up to us and just keeps on playing. i'm like "dude, WTF? i said you could hit on, not play through. and you're not gonna plow through the 10 foursomes in front of us."

so at this point it's useless so we let him go knowing full well the old timers in front of us will never let him play through. by the 5th hole a ranger comes up to us and we tell him what happened and they kick him off the course so there was some vindication but the whole ordeal was very frustrating.

That sucks dude. Small things like that ruin a good day of golf.
I can see why etiquette is so important in golf when compared to other sports.

On another note, I got that hybrid I've posted so much about and my friend picks me up to go to some course he's played before. Halfway there he tells me it's all par 3s. I try not to lose it but the whole round sucked and I never even got to hit my new club.

15 bucks for 9 on the worst golf course I will ever play in my life. Could have hit Whirlpool for $20...
