When they say left they are talking about the hand on the butt of the club for a right handed golfer.

Yeah I always assume they are talking about it from a right-handed golfers perspective.

This weekend and especially yesterday was a bitter disappointment. Just need to make a vent post.

Was a perfect storm of suck, not feeling well, total loss of swing speed and ability to make any sort of swing where I could actually have any clue where the ball would go, going to pull my 6 hybrid on 4 and not being there and being 3 over after 3 taking away any chance for a miracle round of 65 to qualify(ended up being 66)

Total mental check out. I don't think I made a single swing with any sort of pre-shot routine and not even bothering to line up a single putt leading to missing 9 or 10 putts under 10 feet and a bunch in the 4-7 foot range where I would be willing to bet a million dollars on me making them getting even odds.

Ended up figuring out my score and shot 103 but appeared to sign for a 104 according to the final results online.
Time to own the fact I suck at golf and move on.

This is the last post I will make on the subject of this weekends tournament.

Had my first taste of semi-competitive golf yesterday, and really enjoyed it.

I started playing golf pretty regularly 2 years ago (after a 12+ year hiatus). I work a lot of weekends, so I never played in any leagues or tournaments, just played rounds during the week with friends or by myself randomly paired up with people.

This summer I found out that a local course has a men's club that had their main games on Wednesday and Thursday. I decided to join. Yesterday I played in the Wednesday game. There were 44 players! The best 11 handicaps were the captains, and each would draft the rest of the players to make teams of foursomes. Each player paid $20 to the pot and there were payouts for a bunch of stuff

I didn't have a GHIN previously but I just plugged my last 20 scores plus course rating and slope into an online golf handicap calculator and it came out with an 11.4. They let me play with this rating even though it wasn't official. I was one of the last people drafted because no one knew me.

I ended up shooting above average on the front nine (+4) and so so on the back (+7). My team didn't win anything. But it was a lot of fun playing with a group taking the game somewhat serious as opposed to the usual hackers and goofballs I had played with before. Definitely looking forward to next week!

Random chatter question: I recently broke 100 for a stretch of time, shooting mid-90 for several rounds. But more recently in my last three rounds it seems like I've completely lost my swing/feel, and just carded 109/113 my last two rounds. What gives, man? /rant

think of it like variance. your improvement graph will rarely be consistently upwards.

Put 100% of your focus on hitting the ball in the center of the face and don't think about the rest of that stuff about your swing. Then aim to favor your miss. Lag putt everything to avoid 3 putts as much as possible. And most importantly, don't take risky shots. Punch it out to safety instead. No lie, do all of this and see what happens.

Easy game. NOT. GL

I finally got fitted today and got it done with Trackman. I hadn't picked up a club in about two years before today. Even considering how rusty I was, I was shocked at how poorly the computer was telling me I was hitting the ball. Here's what the pro recommended:

Ping G SFTEC driver with Tour 65 regular shaft

Ping G SFTEC 3 wood with standard shaft and regular flex

Ping G series 5 hybrid

Ping G 6-9 irons

He said I could add in wedges and other woods/hybrids from this set later on if I wanted.

I read online that this driver has two loft settings, 10° and 12°. He recommended 10°, but I'm wondering if that's easily adjustable by myself.

Assuming it is like every other driver out there they come with a special torque wrench and takes about 30 seconds to adjust. Don't know 100% for sure on the ping though.

Scored a dozen new 2017 Q-star tour balls (urethane like, not like the older ones) to test and review. Been a bit sick so probably a few days till my swing speed is back up to normal though.

Nothing like being sick, hitting the center of the club face with the driver only to get to the ball and see it went only 230-235

Had a day and half in Copenhagen so obv needed to golf. Got a tip that http://www.kgkgolf.dk/en is worth a go and so booked a tee-time and went straight from the airport. Got there early, said I´d like to play in a group, but flights were full. One Korean tourist was a possibility, but he wanted nothing to do with me. Oh well alone I went. I dont hit it long, so chose the 6400y tees. Started off playing okay, but on the 3rd hole 3 ladies waived me to pass them. I thought the course was full, but whatever. Hit my teeshot a bit to the right "Can I find it???" "YES you can!!". Never found it, thanks ladies.

Then started to play worse, and the waiting turned into torment. No way have I ever played behind a slower threesome. When they quit after 9th it was pure euforia. Played better too, just could not hole anything. Caddiemaster convinced me to come after 7am so I could play on an empty course ahead of me, and happy that I did come back. Played ****ty though, but still enjoyed it. Lost 3 balls on the first round, and then on the second played 2 or more balls and managed to lose all-but-one off 12 balls hah.

Just deer, reindeer more north with the Santa Claus. Yeah spring and fall the rough is shorter I read. In places you could still find the ball but not very often.

Turns out I've been standing 3-6" too far away from the ball all this time. If you need me I'll be on TV playing on the tour.
