I tried my Dad's RBZ on the range and couldn't hit the damn thing for ****.
If you are thinking of getting an SLDR get the R15 instead, and if you want the R15 get the M1/M2 instead.

I second this. don't get a SLDR, unless you're interested in a used 10.5* with a Fujikura Motore Speeder 6.3 stiff shaft. i'll consider any reasonable price.

For now I'm riding with the R9. I have been battling a slice w/ driver for a lot of rounds until today, and back when I played a lot more often (2012ish) adjusting it didn't really change anything. After adjusting to N-L (1 deg closed, +0.5deg loft) today, I hit 1, maybe 2 balls out of 13 that had a noticeable fade. The rest were straight bullets that sometimes looked like pulls when I set up for the fade. Was a fun day.

If anything I'm upgrading my 3W. Seems to be a real problem that my 4I is near my 3W off the tee

4 iron that is nearly the same distance as your 3w is a problem for sure, so new 3w sounds like a good start.

The 3W is a Burner Plus with ReAX 49g regular flex shaft. I'm lucky to hit it 205 off the tee, it takes a decent trajectory but tends to balloon from too much backspin. For reference, I can carry the driver 230 or more with decent regularity. My R9 driver & my irons are both stiff shafts, so I guess the launch conditions are just far more ideal.

I decided on a preowned SLDR 3-wood with stiff shaft. The adjustability should be a nice plus as well, my R9 had an amazing round after changing it.

That will spin miles less for you. I am still gaming RBZ2 3 wood with x fubuki, I love the thing. SLDR 3 wood will be a pretty huge upgrade for you.

And then 2 days after ordering I have to go walk a friend's dog, he has an R9 3 wood with same shaft as my driver sitting in his spare club bag in his garage >.<

Thamel, why the stiff shaft? (This isn't the beginning of a joke, I promise)

Seems with your driver distance, a regular shaft might be better for you.

I don't really have enough side to side testing in recent times to compare stiff v regular against eachother. Historically, when playing at/near the level I have been playing at recently, more flexible shafts created a "2 way miss" problem for me. Hooks became an issue at times, which would obviously be a killer if I'm aiming for my stock straight/fade.

I play stiff mostly because it's what I got. I bought my iron set like 2-3 years ago, and my other equipment years earlier. I still use 2006 RAC TP wedges!

Thamel so you hit your 4 iron around 200 then? If so you are hitting your driver very poorly by comparison. Would think your swing speed to hit a 4 iron 200 would allow you to hit driver 260 with no problem if the launch / spin numbers aren't way out of whack.

Anyone hit the new ping i-blades ? Want to get a fitting done and see how it goes.. currently playing i20s but these look so damn sweet.

My 4i is about 190 standard, and usually a bit longer off the tee. That's why I considered the clubs close off the tee.

Looking at the TM preowned site makes me want to try a new shaft in my driver though. Can get the exact same shaft in regular flex very good condition for 30$, FCT tip added. Given that an FCT tip is generally ~$15, that's pretty sweet of a deal.

Will an FCT tip even fit in the SLDR fw or are you talking about the R9

Yeah I'm talking for my R9 driver. I'd need a loft sleeve tipped shaft for the SLDR wood. FCT is 8 positions, loft sleeve is 12.

lol, sim or not, played easily my best round this morning. Driver finally becoming reliable for the first time in my life. Weird playing from the left side of holes.

The SLDR played beautifully today, as did the RBZ2 4Hy. Hit 3 tee shots with the SLDR, all low-mid flying bullets that averaged 230+ yds on my GPS. Off the deck, both clubs performed amazing. The 3W was low and powerful with a minor fade, while the hybrid flew high & penetrating

looking forward to that skytrak showing up thursday now more then ever cause it's freaking hot, i hate going to the range and i'm pipping them straight down the middle of my cage now instead of either healing them off the left netting or, more likely, opening them up right off the right netting. never hit the back net once prior with my driver.

lol me.

here is the video. it's 3 parts, but it was the grip stuff i needed.

before & after stats post watching these videos and also switching from my cleveland launcher 460 *offset to a Taylormade M2

Any course recommendations around Boulder, co? I'll be in town for a day on wednesday

Or anywhere within a hundred miles of Denver will do if it's worth playing

Legacy Ridge in Westminster is my favorite.

Todd Creek is probably my second favorite.

Heritage at Westmoor is good.

I played Saddle Rock in Aurora for the first time this weekend. Really nice course, with some really hard holes. I played the back tees and the rating was 74.6/140 or something like that. It's in suburb condition right now.

If you want a really Colorado-ey experience go down to Arrowhead.

If you want to play right in Boulder, Flatirons is better than you would think for the local muni course. Always in excellent shape. It's a very tight older course with big mature trees.

Holler at me if you have questions about any other courses in the area or other things to do in Boulder.

Ya I had planned on playing arrowhead but the earliest tee time was like 3pm. I'll look at the others and see what I think.

How much longer should I expect my clubs to travel? Say I hit my 7 iron 160 at sea level?

When I go to sea level I use 8% and that seems to work pretty well. In reality there is some variation for different clubs, and you will see a bigger difference if you tend to hit the ball higher. But figure around 173 for your 7 iron.
