Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
Today was the first day I gave up on a round.. numerous reasons
My back has been tight and I couldnt rotate correct for a while and my ball striking was just awful and when it loosened up it was ok BUT the course was so backed up it tightened up easily... I literally sat for 25 min waiting to hit on a par 3.. then it rained

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
Just booked tee times on Barsebäck Golf Resort. Really looking forward to playing their Masters Course which hosted 13 European Tour events and the Solheim Cup once as well. Hopefully the weather will be nice and I will play ok

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
Playing 18 on Saturday with 2 buddies. First 9 holes we're drawing what 3 clubs + putter each of us uses out of a hat. Hoping for irons, as I'm still struggling with driver and woods.
Last 9 we are doing that the winner of the hole may remove a club from the two losers bag. We're all relatively the same handicap, so we all have a good shot at doing well. Now, I know this is dependant on the course and the players strengths and weaknesses, but any good strategies or tips for this (or these) types of games?

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
I would think that taking the short clubs out of the other guys bags would be the way to go. I imagine that it's a lot harder to hit a pitch with a 4 iron than it is to hit a tee shot with a 9. Of course, my handicap is likely in the 30s so I don't know for sure

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
Last year I was one of the best drivers of the ball I have ever played with, yet this year I have been struggling with every variety of hook imaginable. However, I have somehow managed to get my handicap down to a 7.8 after climbing to a 10.0 a month ago. In the last 8 rounds, my worst round was 90 something while all the rest have been between 78 and 86.
Coincidently, I have found the answer to a duck-hook; play links courses.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
Can someone explain why I can't hit a draw with my irons? I can make good contact when the face is slightly open, but it turns into a high, fade/push with reduced distance. When I close the face to hit the draw, I make terrible contact and usually hit the ball fat. I want to hit the low-flying penetrating draw with the irons.

you don't hit a draw by closing the face. it's about swing path

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
How do y'all walk off putt distances? I just realized I was undercalculating by 10%.
I walk from hole to ball leisurely and count "1, 2, 3, 9, 1, 2, 3, 18, 1, 2, 3, 27" where every 4th step is 9 feet.
I just measured though and realize that I'm walking 10 feet for every 4 casual strides so now it will be "1, 2, 3, 10, 1, 2, 3, 20" etc.
Anything under probably 6-8 feet I just eyeball. If I end on count "2" in between then I add the 4 or 6 feet depending if ball is a foot or so behind or in front of my foot.
I'm curious as to how others count them off.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
Ever since my lag putter broke I just use one putter for all my putts so I don't walk them off anymore.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread
It's second nature and probably nobody could even tell I'm measuring. I guess I didn't realize it was rare to do... lol.
I got pretty good last year at keeping track of a lot of **** in my head when I was shooting 115.
I keep track of putts, distance, penalties and sand shots so it wouldn't be uncommon to walk off a par 4 toward my bag saying in my head "nine three from thirty-four, one P, 2 S"
Which translates to 9 strokes, 3 putts, first putt distance 34 feet, 1 penalty stroke, 2 sand strokes. I still use this system but I think I even dropped the "from" since I know the third number listed is always the distance.

I just walk off every foot. Size 10 shoe + inch on each end = one foot imo.
