My course has a practice facility with a green plus a putting green next to the first tee. The other day I saw a kid who works there hitting 40 yard flop shots to the putting green. Really doubt he fixed any ball marks.

So I guess I was being nitty then?

I mean I was the only one on the green before him and his student showed up and within less than a minute of him setting up on the green pitch shots were landing near my pin while I'm standing over a putt lining it up. Friends tag-teaming the same hole is one thing but I just met this dude.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread

Think I figured out the main culprit for my recent driver megastruggles. Pretty sure my feet were way too far apart. I had 24" between my feet at address. Watched a lot of face on vids from YouTube and noticed most of these guys' feet are closer than that. Also this was causing my front heel to come way up off the ground and the balls of my foot to rotate allowing my hip turn. THat's way too much movement out of my front foot and I think it feels normal for me being a baseball hitter. But most people seem to just turn their front foot over along the side of the shoe during the backswing. Took several practice swings in the backyard and my base felt much more controlled. Trying to do more like 18" between feet, not 24". Felt much smoother and more stable with the narrower stance and still was able to not be too vertical with the swing. May go play a round tomorrow and see how it works out.

No, you're not being a nit. Holes are first come, first served. You own the hole until you start putting at another one. If the green is full of people, then it's a different story. If there are multiple holes open, the other guy gets to choose numerous locations to hit at. Hitting to the only hole occupied is a lol move that you expect beginners to pull. I can assure you this dude has problems.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread

He seemed remarkably insecure. He was like a 25 year old asian dude there with a 17 year old hot blond (well, hot for a municipal putting green). They didn't stay long and they drove off in his Lexus. Was weird. Also was funny that the first time I looked over at him he started apologizing like he knew he was being a dickhead but was probably trying to show off for this girl. He was pretty good at pitching so I don't think he was a beginner but he was certainly a douche.

Hitting chips and pitches are definitely a no-no anywhere close to where someone is putting.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread

Damn, that girl was municipal putting green hot bro.

The place where I practice has a ton of range balls on the chipping green. I use my own balls since range balls blow. Anyways, one guy snagged 3 of my balls up in his tubed shag bag thingy while I was pitching. When I got done with the rest of my balls I went over to him and he had already put them in his bag, he was like "thought I got lucky!".

Was he wearing a belt with a diamond-encrusted "AK" belt buckle? If so, I think I know who it might be.

What are peoples thoughts on chipping and putting with the glove on? Ive always done it that way, but I see a lot of people taking it off for putting.

I play all shots with a glove except for putting. Do whatever's comfortable for you though.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread

I never chip or putt with a glove. Been that way since I was 5.

Its just a preference thing. I prefer the feeling of not having a glove. To me it seems to add more feel to the shot. Dont know if it really does or it is just a mental thing for me though.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread

Having skin on the club instead of a glove will obviously give you more feel. But that doesn't mean you'll putt or chip better.

Re: MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread

Anything inside 30-40 yards and the glove is off for me. My short game is just purely imagination and feel and it seems like I have a lot more control and feel if I ditch the glove. I tried to get more mechanical once after I watched Phil's dvd...that did not go well and screwed up my chipping for a month or two.
