I just got mine delivered yesterday as well. First thing I noticed is how light it feels when you pick it up. I got the Tour 9 degree, and got it pretty cheap, slightly used for $140 from an online shop.

Just an FYI, as I read about the adjusting thoroughly last night. When you adjust the loft of the driver, it is done in .75 degree increments.

So if you bought a 9 degree, and you adjust one "click", you have adjust the driver to 9.75 degrees...BUT...you are also closing the face down when you adjust the driver to have a higher loft. When you adjust the loft to be lower, you are opening the face. I believe each adjustment is done in 1 degree increments, so when you adjust from 9 to 9.75, you are also adjusting from neutral to 1 degree closed with respect to the face angle.

Very excited to go out and hit it...was hoping to play this weekend.

So I hit my 60 degree wedge 40 meters with full swing, my 52 65 meters. Im like wtf. I once hit the 52 90 meters.

I think part of the problem is my weight is hanging on the right foot when I finish my swing, advice?

Also my pitching wedge standard is 100 meters.

That 740 dollar 3 wood better either be gold-plated or have been used by Tiger at Pebble in 2000

I hit it yesterday and it was pretty nice. My driver swing isn't great though. I dead-pulled a couple drives and then I skied a couple. I noticed the clubface I had several white ball marks on it that were really near the heel and way up high, so I'm standing too close to the ball at address.

Thanks for the info. I also have the Tour 9 like you. I have it set on standard loft right now. Good to know that adding loft will open it a bit and removing loft will close it a bit. I'll have to remember that.

It did feel very light when I first grabbed it. It's so pretty - I don't even want to get it dirty lol.

Yeah. I almost bought a box of ProVs just yesterday, too. Glad I didn't spend the $40+.

It was 109 balls.

The breakdown is:

60 ProV1
39 ProV1x
4 MaxFli Noodle
2 Top Flite
Nike
Srixon
Callaway
Precept Laddie

It's pretty nice for sure. I would never spend so much on golf balls. At least not until I was a single.

Shaft was $400. Some fubuki white 75g shaft. A stout x. RBz stage 2 tour head. Hitting it as far as my driver at 14.5 deg. Will prolly play it up to 16 deg

My bag is almost complete. Just need to tweak my iron shafts once more... $700 driver, $750 3 wood. $2600 irons. $600 hybrid. $300 total for my wedges. $150 putter.

Maybe I'll get to the happy side of scratch this year finally.

Hopefully nobody jacks my bag.

Every shaft in my bag at this point is basically tour only. Bought miuras too.

I honestly think I got a pretty good deal on the set. Doesn't really matter though, I'm done upgrading for a long time. I realize I could have spent ~2k and gotten similar performance, but I'm an enthusiast with some money to spare so whatever. Golf is really expensive.

If anyone wants to buy a set of TM MC 3-PW with x100s, R11 19 deg hybrid (85g rip aldila x shaft), R11 3 wood (70g rip aldila beta x TM shaft), R11 driver (same shaft as 3 wood)... I'll let them go on the cheap side. All moderately used, still in pretty good shape.

Guys,

I am a hack playing Big5 random golf clubs. I have been playing for a few summers, maybe 125 rounds total. I am currently shooting high 80's low 90's. I started working out and it has really helped my ball flight and distance. I don't even carry a driver as I found it got me in trouble, and I only use my 5-wood occasionally off the tee. The greatest appeal of golf to me is that it presents a lifelong challenge....the mental game is so important. I love that aspect of the game.

Anyway, I am thinking of buying new irons and have been searching craigslist. I found a set of Hogan Apex Steel Stiff irons for a very affordable price. The affordable part is important to me. Is playing this set foolish? I am about a 17 handicap I believe. I have been hitting my current CBs very well this season, and think if I want to improve I may want to get clubs with more feedback. I am totally willing to take a step back in scoring in the meanwhile.

Thoughts greatly appreciated.

Has anyone else gotten fat and had it affect their swing? I'm wondering how much of an issue it is with me. I'm the fattest I've ever been right now at 214 at 6 feet tall. I think 2 summers ago when I started playing I was striking the ball much better and was probably around 197.

I'm tired of being a fatty though so I'm going to try to get back into the 190s at least.

I play semi regularly with a guy who was around 210 and kept his handicap in the high single digits, then over 4 months lost 50 pounds doing one of those medifast type diets, and now he can barely break 90.

I've gotten better the fatter I've gotten, but it's been a slow burn. When I was in college I weighed about 170 and shot right around 80 a lot, now I'm about 215 and am a plus handicap. Hit it further too.

I know Carl Petterson said he tried losing weight then he lost his swing so he tries to maintain that fat belly of his.

In my case being fatter seems to be hurting me, though. When I played competitive baseball 6 years ago I was 182 and hockey 4 years ago I was like 192.

outside of the occasional masters sunday scramble at my local course where you pick a player and add their total to your teams, has anyone ever seen fantasy golf combined with real golf.

for example, I'm thinking it would be cool if say every sunday my course had a $5 tourney where everyone picked a player(let's say you could only pick a guy once a year) and you played 1 net bestball with your pro vs everyone else who signed up.

assuming it was done well wrt handicapping/payouts/etc... would you guys do that?

Not specifically what you're asking but my buddy lost some weight during the offseason. We played this past weekend and he probably gained 10-15 yards off the tee.

I hit it exactly the same distance at 190 (and strong) as I do at 260 and no muscle.

My swing was terribly messed up for a couple of years when I lost 80+ pounds... it looks very different now.

It's just whatever weight you're accustomed to playing at really.
