Brag: Tee time booked for Pebble in May.
Maybe Bigger Brag: Not paying for it.

Very excited, and really good incentive to work on that new year's resolution to play more golf.

Swung a club for the first time in about 6 months today. Got out to the range and hit a full bucket then putted.

I was glad to see I hadn't forgotten anything I was doing before. I was being a little lazy with getting through some wedge shots and hit a few fat but I immediately knew what I was doing wrong and corrected it. Chipped incredibly well out to like 40 yards.

The best part was I got a hybrid for Christmas and finally got to break it out. Have never hit one before so it's a new animal. Left my 2i in the closet at home. Anyway I was loving this club and can't wait to get out and play a round with it. Started with it off the deck and hit a few low slices but quickly worked it out and got used to it.

But hitting it off the tee was the best. I hit that ****ing ball so straight and high in the air it was really fun to watch. Not sure the distance but I guess out there around 230 or so.

My driver traditionally is pretty erratic so this club is huge for me. I will feel comfortable shelving my driver mid-round and just teeing with this hybrid club if it means sacrificing 30 yards for finding the fairway.

Though I hit my driver also and had pretty good results. Putting was also pretty decent. No idea when I'll get out to play next but really excited about possibly being able to give par 5s a go in 2, as well as have a backup driver.

******ed question. I went to the range again tonight and hit my 3 hybrid off the deck and teed up. Only second time swinging this club.

When I tee it up how high do I tee it? I'm obviously not going to tee it as high as my driver but do you tee it up or tee it down like you are hitting an iron shot?

Am I supposed to hit down on it like a tee'd iron shot or tee it up a bit (I've been doing about 3/8" and swing it like a driver?

Thanks.

Was fun today at the range..had about a 30mph right to left wind. Was trying to pepper the 100 yard sign with wedge shots. Started out with an easy gap wedge and yeah that went way past. Ended up choking down on my lob wedge and still having it roll past a bit. Had to hit like a 3/4" lob wedge to settle the ball out there 100. And was aiming probably 30 yards right of the target.

That makes sense. I was hitting it much better off the deck than teed up a bit. I'll try teeing it lower next time and hitting down.

Hitting up a couple of golf shows in February. Thinking about getting some new hybrids.

Currently have an Adams A3 that I like. I was resistant for a long time to hybrids (due to excessive hooking mostly) but started playing them last year.

Local shop has a whole bunch of stuff from last season marked way down. They have all kinds of different Adams models - A12, V3, Super, a couple other ones iirc - and I dunno what would be pretty comparable. I'd like to find a similar (smaller) head, not a fan of ones that approach fairway wood size. I don't need a closed face.

Anyone have ideas as to what would be pretty similar to the A3 or resources to choose?

AdamsGolf V3 is the club I have. Though I can't help you since this club is my only frame of reference. I definitely like it though! It's much better than my 2iron lol.

My bag was illegal anyway since I carried D&3, 2-9i, 4 wedges and putter. Dumped my 3w and 2i in the closet and am now legal with the V3.

What's you're handicap? Have to think you're better off putting the 3w back in and dumping a wedge. Unless you are hitting the new hybrid almost identical to your 3w

I was actually carrying a 4w. The 3 shaft broke and I never fixed it so just used a 4w for my 2nd shot on par 5s.

You are right though I may still keep the 4W for tee shots. Depends on how good I hit the hybrid off a tee, really. I rarely used my gap A-wedge, so I could ditch it. It's still nice though when you have a legit A-wedge distance (about 105 for me) to the flag and want to go for a birdie. I'm not good enough to take a little off my P-wedge. Clubs were given to me by a 2 HC so he carried 4 scoring clubs.

This is a bit random, but would be cool if someone here had some input.

So I didnt expect to go as a exchange student next semester, but after seeing how cold and crappy the winter is for golf here (Denmark) I figured I should go somewhere warm with golf.

I dont suppose there is any chance to get into any kind of golf program, since Im no good at golf (17,3 HC)?

My school has a exchange program with most schools in the US (A lot of asia too, well pretty much anywhere, dont dont want to go to Spain or something like that for language reasons.)

Any suggestions on where to go if golf is a priority?

Im studying Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business with an average some to well above the school average fwiw.

For winter golfing in the US, I guess anywhere in Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, or California & Vegas. Also a lot of party schools in the south.

everyone should carry 4-wedges. ask Pelz. typical set-up D, 3-W, hybrid, putter. 4-wedges 9-4 iron or maybe a 4-hybrid. hell he even advocates five wedges for long hitters.

I've done a few Pelz clinics (including a 3 day one when maybe 15 years ago). Really dislike most of what he teaches at this point.

I'm sure there's some value in 4 wedges for certain players on certain courses, but it's certainly not some universal truth. I roll with a 47/53/60 and am perfectly comfortable with it, and get a lot more value out of driver/3w/2h/3i on the courses I play most often.
