I hired a personal trainer at my gym because she had golf listed as a specialty. Basically I want to improve my core and upper body strength before this coming season. Had the first session with her today. She mentioned she used to help train Nick Price and I'm thinking this is pretty badass, I didn't realize she worked with players at that level before I signed up.

But then she said she also worked with Fuzzy Zoeller. I couldn't help but point out that he was never exactly in good shape, and she said "yeah, he pretty much just liked to ride on a stationary bike and talk about all kinds of stuff.."

It was pretty obvious she knows what she is doing though and I'm looking forward to hitting the **** of the ball this year.

please tell me which exercises you do so i don't have to pay for a personal trainer!

Anyone tried the SKLZ Gyro Swing thingy?

This review makes it sound pretty good.

My Dad bought an orange whip trainer which I like a lot for warming up/tempo purposes.

I also use the ledbetter swingsetter a fair bit. Helps train a shorter backswing and lets you know when you're releasing the club, both of which I need work on. I use the swingsetter on 2 balance discs, make 30 swings or so then hit a few balls normally. I'll also hit balls off the balance discs, nothing is better for my swing.

On Saturday I 3 putted 5 times on the front 9, decided I was going to shoot E or better on the back, was E thru 3, then played the last 6 holes in 35+ mph wind in what felt like 30 degree weather.

I hit driver/5 wood into a 390 yard par 4 which is usually driver/lob wedge. Then hit Driver on the par 3 15th....short!

Still could've easily played the last 6 in +1 if I wasn't awful around the greens.

does anyone know if the 17th at pebble is as hard in real life as it is on the tiger woods video game?

If the greens aren't rock hard I don't think it's honestly that hard of a hole. They have a set of US open tees which make it probably a lot tougher, but from the normal back tees with normal green conditions, it's not too tough.

I did play it -1 in 2 rounds though, so I might be biased.

Having only played it once, in 20+ winds and a downpour, I don't know that I have a great frame of reference, but it's hard. Although a lot of that depends on pin location. If the pin is right of center it's not that bad, but left of center is damn near impossible from 200+ yards imo.

Probably a lot harder before they invented hybrids
