It was a year that was almost impossible to predict, but I gave it a try.

Way back in January, before the season began, I made my predictions of who I thought would be the top players of 2016. I put it out there for the whole world to see, knowing in advance that people would focus on my massive misses (but that's what makes this so much fun) Let's see how I did.

With the 2016 season in the books, I would like to look back at the players that I thought gave us the most surprising seasons, and those who disappointed.

Way back in January, before the 2016 LPGA season began, I listed 10 questions that I was looking forward to getting the answers to.

How well were they answered?

I have been asked many times how the LPGA constructs their field lists for tournaments.

Below is the 2017 priority list:

As we wait for the 2017 season to begin, it gives me time to look back at the players that made the biggest moves in the Rolex Rankings in 2016.

Come on, I'm ready to watch some golf on TV. The Pure Silk can't get here soon enough.

Below I have posted the most popular pictures of 2016. I based this on the number of website hits, and the number of comments each photo received. Some came as quite a surprise to me, as when they were taken I was not expecting such a reaction.

As we approach the beginning of the 2017 LPGA season, there are a number of questions that I am looking forward to getting the answers to. In reverse order, here are my top ten:

We are just about a week away from the beginning of the 2017 season.

With 35 tournaments on the schedule (including the Solheim Cup), this year promises to to be one of the most exciting ever.

With the LPGA getting more and more talented each and every year, it is very difficult to narrow this down to just 40 players.

I am going strictly by where I think they will finish on the 2017 money list.

Here are by top 40 picks for the 2017 season: (last year's actual money list finish is in parenthesis)

All the Lees (Minjee, Mirim, Alison) too low.

Charley Hull and Ciganda a bit too high.

Really want So Yeon Ryu to win this year.

tony, u do amazing work. loved that lpga top 40 player preview.

could you do it for the pga tour? i think there would be huge interest. most previews i see just describe last year and then maybe give you some young, dominant recent college players that we all know anyway.

also, i would love to see some work done on players vs. courses. i think the US Open last year was moderately predictable if you knew the course i.e. no trees is good for big hitters.

i was watching that silly season event on the weekend with seniors, celebrities and a few lpga players competing from the seniors tees.....

lexi did very well. wonder if she'd be helped immensely if lpga played longer courses.. also apparently she is changing her wedge game. trying to come down less steep. think it was fairly obvious that was the problem. i wonder if she developed bad habits trying to keep up length-wise with her older (???) brothers. not sure about the putting but certainly if you're short game is shaky it could probably creep into your putting to some degree.

Thanks for the comments. I am not an expert by any means on the PGA.

I would like to do my first player profile today, and if I can make the time would like to continue throughout the year.

It is time to start the 2017 LPGA season. With 35 tournaments on the schedule (including the Solheim Cup), more prize money, and more television coverage, the 2017 season promises to be the biggest and best ever.

The season will open in the Bahamas once again this year with the playing of the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic.

Here are the key details:

Watching today's coverage on the Tubes, nice little feature on Madeline Sagstrom, really personable, if she wins on the LPGA anything like she did on the Symetra she's going to be a megastar. Gerina Piller is also a pretty decent interview. Brittany Lincicome being interviewed walking down the fairway, seems to be more comfortable with it ... doesn't hurt that she's playing great.

So good to have golf back on TV.

If Lexi figures out the putter like she did today, look out!

Liking my fantasy pick of Gerina this week so far. In before the inevitable collapse.

Putting stroke looks totally different. If it holds up, wow.

was gonna post something like this....... if lexi figures out her game i'd say it's game over for vast majority of LPGA players.

how are women killing the bahamas when they killed the men at least one week?
lack of wind?

Yeah, conditions are much, much better. Also, different course, this one doesn't appear to be particularly difficult.
