This week the LPGA moves to Malaysia for the playing of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.

Many may remember last year's tournament when Jessica Korda fired a final round 65, to win this tournament by 4 shots over Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis, and Shanshan Feng.

Here is my preview:

Read that the LPGA is probably going to get rid of their Q School and rely more heavily on players coming up via the Symetra Tour. It'll be interesting to see what the final version of the plan is, I think they want to have it figured out within a month.

They are going to to have a qualifying tournament instead of a Q-School.

The people who will qualify for the tournament will be the following:

LPGA players that did not finish in the top 100 on the money list.
Symetra players that did not finish in the top ten
International players that are ranked in the top 100 of the Rolex Rankings.

They will play a full 4 day tournament, with a yet to be determined amount of cards to give out.

Right, and that's obviously very different than Q School, where any woman with a little game and a bunch of cash could work her way through the 3 stages and directly onto the LPGA.

I have mixed feelings about the move.

This week the LPGA moves to Japan for the playing of the Toto Japan Classic.
Many of you may remember last year's exciting finish which resulted in a three way playoff. Sun-Ju Ahn birdied the first playoff hole to claim her first LPGA victory. Ji-Hee Lee and Angela Stanford both missed their birdie putts.

looked at this week's leaderboard for tourney in mexico (ochoa)

seems like:

1) small field

2) very very few asian players... some asian-americans but i mean asians.

3) mexico understandably over-represented.

4) USA very over-represented.

can the asians not get work permits? serious question

I don't think that's an issue, but I have no specific information.

It's an invitational, but the invite criteria are really simple -- top 5 in the world, then top 26 on LPGA money list, 5 sponsor invites. So they're asking the best players, the players just aren't coming.

Logical reasons why: The tour just wrapped a multi-week Asian swing. A lot of players are ready for a week off and for the asians it may be easier to just hop home.

It's a small purse event.

Next week is the tour championship.

If I'm a lower ranked USA-based player I'm snap accepting an invite, since "I" have probably been sitting home twiddling my thumbs instead of playing in Asia.
