Re: Here we go again, Ship---this just entered Q School
Ok, workshopping ideas. I am carrying my own sticks tomorrow so my buddy can go hunt. What is my over under if I use driver, hybrid, 5, 7, 9, 52, 60 and putter? I'll take even money on the first $200 with 75 being a push.
I'll take full tilt on a win and mail a check for a loss.

Edit. 75 is a win. 75.5 is over under.

Re: Here we go again, Ship---this just entered Q School
Sorry to hear Ship. You certainly put in a valiant attempt and showed you are a very talented player and a determined guy. Just getting to where you did is an amazing accomplishment. After your rd 1 of stage 1 I went to send your summary (partially below) to a buddy of mine and when I reread the first paragraph I was struck by the enormity of the obstacle before you. I think you will admit even Tiger or Phil would be hard pressed to pull off a tour card from scratch without playing competitively all year.
This stage also felt exponentially more difficult to me than stage 1 based on the course/weather and field.

Good luck in future with everything golf or not Ship. This thread has been great and I hope to follow you again wherever your damn long and straight driver takes you!!!

Haha I like your idea Ship - I know it sucks to be playing jsut to play, however I don't think you're going to find someone on here who wants to bet an over against you, since we all want to see you do well.
I don't wanna sweat a bad score from you, I like watching and hoping you go low.

Re: Here we go again, Ship---this just entered Q School
I'm still hoping the golf course lays out a nice breakfast spread for the competitors on the final day and Ship misses it because he's being lazy and no longer serious about the tournament and arrives barely in time to tee off. A massive case of food poisoning erupts in the field and Ship cruises to victory with a 74 despite using only 7 clubs or whatever which also nets him a few hundo on the prop bet win.

If you seriously show up and play with only 8 clubs please show up with one of those tiny junior bags to hold the clubs. Also, extra props if you have novelty golf balls like http://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Sponge-...0232593&sr=1-1 for example.

Re: Here we go again, Ship---this just entered Q School
10. Pulled driver a touch in left rough for sure and bounces into bunker. It entered the bunker sideways and is sitting poorly on my line to the pin due to the way it came in so there is no chance of catching it clean. Fat a 7 iron out to 40 yards and pitch that to 5 feet. Par.
11. Mi**** drive catches right rough and I have 165 up a big hill and into crosswind. It is a flier big time and goes 35 yards over green behind an old wooden fence which I have to take relief from (for my follow through) and then hit a massive flop over it. On green to 20 feet. Bogey.
12. Hammer driver in middle on perfect little launching pad. Have 261 to back pin with a very small amount of mud on ball. Roast that and it duck hooks 80 yards. Literally. The wind was off the right and it hooked so far left and over these trees I knew there would be zero chance of finding it so I hit a provisional…hit that to 10 feet. Mulligan please? We find the first one left of the next tee because it flew over the group in front of us and I am in knee high rough and 60 yards to pin. Chunk that just short and chip to and inch. Very satisfying. Ha!
13. Flare driver with wind now left to right and it winds up in trees but no problem at all, clear line/trajectory/etc. Hit a terrible 8 iron that is short sided about 20 feet off green and then 15 feet to pin. Try a spinning 60 chip which I blade 30 feet past the pin and 3 putt for double. Sweet.
14. Good drive bad 41 yard pitch. Par.
15. Great 6 iron to 8 feet, under read putt, par.
16. Great drive leaving 146 pin hit a 7 iron (normal 175 club) that comes up short. It’s windy! Good chip to 4 feet. Par.
17. Playing 141 today. The pin is on dead front and anything short of the pin catches a false front back into the bunker. ENTIRE group in front of us is in the bunker and I assume they all hit 7 irons as I don’t think anybody would try to smoke an 8 into the wind. So I chip a 6 right at it and it lands 4 feet short of the hole and comes back into the bunker. Bogey. Jose Toledo who I am paired with watches this and tries to hit a 5 and the wind goes calm for a brief second and he hits it to back of green. He has 80 feet over a huge ridge and I can honestly say I didn’t see how he was going to keep it on the green…he made it. He missed putts inside of 3 feet on 15 & 16 and then cans an 80 footer.
18. Good drive, no chance to go for it into wind. Chip 4 iron down FW and hit 56 from 70 yards to 10 feet, par.
1. Good drive, 144 left wind feels a little calmer so I go with 7 iron. Good shot 20 feet. Par.
2. Good drive, 174 left 5 iron to 20 feet. Par.
3. Good drive, 121 left, PW 8 feet. Par.
4. Playing 185 quartering into the wind off the right. Try to hit a low 4 that I flare up into wind on dead front of green. 2 putt from 70 feet.
5. Kill a driver down wind barely in first cut and sitting down. Only have 215 total/200 front so I am going to try the “flop” hybrid again and block it right in front right bunker. Pin is cut on back right about 30 yards from me and about 12 feet over bunker I’m in. I try mega-flop bunker shot which I completely blade 40 yards over green. Have to pitch that down short of green coming back and then don’t get that up and down. Double bogey. Unreal.
6. Great drive leaving 50 yards and hit a good 60 to 5 feet. Birdie. Ship it.
7. Playing 238 today crosswind pin back right. Hammer hybrid but pull it to back left. 50 feet coming up over a tough ridge and lag it to 7 feet past and make it coming back.
8. Good drive leaving 165 pull 9 iron to 25 feet and 2 putt.
9. Bad drive but irrelevant due to wind. Lay up with 7 iron and have 138 and hit 7 iron short from there. Bad chip to 6 feet. Bogey.
Not really sure what to say other than my give a sh*t meter hit zero after the double on the front 9.
Today is looking windy again. Sweet.

Re: Here we go again, Ship---this just entered Q School
Ok...I'll take all my clubs and try to shoot a good score. I guess I really don't want to finish dead ass last....
I really did think I would have the last starting time today, I just thought it would be off #1, not 10!
