I hate it when people ask me what my handicap is. I have NO IDEA. I could shoot a 71 or a 90. It just depends on how many chips I decide to blade over the green and if a double bogey or a 10 results from those chips.

How do you measure yourself against other golfers?

I don't really. Or if I play in a tournament, then usually I shoot a score, and then I use that. I just don't like being asked "what is your handicap?" because I feel like I am lying no matter what I answer.

Then I guess you haven't played in any USGA or state-sanctioned tournaments, at least not as an adult?

before i started keeping a handicap (few months ago) i'd just put down 0 and never had any problems. let my pro know at my club and he said he'd verify it if someone ever called, but never needed to.

I don't have an official handicap, but I play solidly to a scratch. I'm definitely not a +, and at worst I'd say a 2. I'm around a +2 at my regular course, but it's kinda on the small (but tough) side and I'm a long hitter, so I have big advantages...but being a +2 there definitely doesn't translate to other courses.

so you shoot 2 under on average? that doesnt make you a +2.

No, I tend to shoot 3-4 under.

seriously, im like

i guess i'm missing something...if the guy plays the same course every week, and it's something like a 6700 yard, 74 rating, nothing tricky course, there's nothing odd about him playing great there but not being able to take it deep anywhere else.

Man, we really need to have 2+2 golf tournament to see how many people on here can actually break 80!!!
