3 of my friends and I go on a golfing trip once a year. As always we struggle to find a good location.

So far we have been to Mallorca (Spain), Belek (Turkey) and they were in Tunesia once without me.

With Belek (near Antalya,terror) and northern africa (terror) being a bit iffy atm, we are struggling even more to find a good destination.

Does anyone have any tips re golfing destinations?

Parameters of the trip are:

Our handicaps are between 30 and 15
Not too long of a flight from Munich (as we are only going for 5 days - 1 week) (although we are toying with the idea of going to florida, we would make an exception for that regarding duration of flight)
somewhat warm weather at the beginning of April
all inclusive hotel preferred (if possible less families and old people, more people our age between 25-30)
preferably not more than 1k expenses each
play golf at least 3 times, preferably on 3 different courses)


Any help appreciated

The couple of times I´ve been to a golfing trip we have always looked at Portugal but then for some reason went elsewhere (Malaga, Belek, Dublin). I think that might be a good option, also buddy had good experiences near Rome. Besides Belek those have not been all-inclusives though. Pretty likely going to Portugal next March-April.

Snow on the ground here, on Saturday leaving for Lanzarote for a week of golf etc, not my favorite destination but for weather now was a good choice.

I don't have any useful information to offer, but if you haven't already I would suggest posting on golfwrx as well.

That time of year is perfect for golf in Florida. The weather is still very nice - not too hot yet - and the courses are in great condition. The only advice I would give is that if you are looking at playing specific courses during the trip make sure to call ahead and find out the maintenance schedule. You don't want to show up at a great course to find it was aerated or top dressed the night before. I am sure you know that Orlando and Miami airports are frequent hubs for European flights - heck even Ft Myers and Naples for the cheap ones.

If you are looking at Florida I would say Orlando. Plenty of choices and hotels in the area are relatively cheap compared to other places. You could create your own set of courses to play from there as your options are pretty much limitless.

If you do come here to Orlando PM me. I can be a great tour guide - others on here can as well. Tons of great courses (and many more within a short drive) to make an easy 36 holes day of it, lots to do without being around all tourists, great food and poker not too far away.

Tenerife and Gran Canaria have a lot of good courses.

Tenerife in particular - add in a trip to La Gomera for a really fun course (and a nice boat ride).

Minus, I´d love some more info or pics/tr if you have somewhere on those islands. Did not golf when went to Tenefire a couple of times.

Just came back from Lanzarote for 8 days. There were 2 courses, played 3+3. Did not organise trip, but my understanding was that courses on other islands were 100e+. We played on twilight fees which were 38 and 45e, on the 38 course we got 4 tee shots of pitch black. So yeah value was veeeery good I think, courses were aight. For 100e I would expect something different, normal fees were 80 on those though.

Hotel was good and loved the spa, great value on that too (late booking).

So yeah If one is looking for affordable stuff I think that was a real good option on those prices. Depens what you are looking for obv, but this trip did lift my thoughts on Lanzarote (I think the other islands are more popular and prices a bit higher, not sure about it though).

We looked at Lanzarote but decided against it for a golf trip since there were just two courses. I've been to Lanzarote a few times on non-golfing trips though and think it's a really cool place.

I'd love to see some pictures from the golf courses there if you have any?


For the Tenerife-trip we stayed in Playa de las Americas, which is close to the majority of the golf courses.
Also a lot of restaurants and bars there - and a really fun minigolf course with 2x18 hole courses and a bar, which was perfect for the evenings

We played 7 courses during our two weeks on Tenerife starting with Golf Las Americas:

It's a nice course which is quite fun to play. Not as spectacular as some of the others, but very pretty with some waterfalls and ponds.




Next was Amarilla which was a really fun course. Right by the coast, so lots of great looking holes near the ocean and nice wide fairways.






Then Abama - Tenerifes most expensive golf course at 200 euro. They've imported a ton of palmtrees and made lakes and stuff there, but unless you stay at the resort that owns the course, it's very expensive to play.

They have free balls on the range and some fruit and stuff in the (mandatory) buggies, but while it's a nice looking course, we felt it was pretty overpriced. A surprising amount of blind tee-shots and other shots as well, which we're not fans of - especially when we only get to play a course once.

Luckily we were paired with a couple who'd played the course before and could point us in the right direction when we weren't sure where to hit.





Then over to La Gomera and Tecina Golf. There's a ferry leaving from Las Americas which takes about 40 minutes iirc. Lots of dolphines to look at during the voyage too

About a 40 minute drive from the ferry to the golf course where you're shuttled up to the first tee. You start at the top and then work your way down towards the club house again.

Really great course, with great scenery.





Golf del Sur was next and a very good course also - situated quite close to the airport, so any golf playing plane-watchers could combine their interests there




Then off to Buenavista - situated on the northwest coast, it was the only course that was more than half an hours drive, but worth the about 1.5 hours drive each way.

Really spectactular views with the mountains on one side and the coast on the other.







Finally, Costa Adeje which was also a great course placed right on the coast.

Had a very tough uphill par 3 hole with lots of bushes in front but at least it provided some income for the woman who was sitting there selling all the balls she'd gotten from the bushes




All our golf was pre-booked through http://www.tenerifegolf-services.com/index.php which worked very well and I'd definitely recommend them.

They supplied the ferry-tickets for La Gomera also, and could arrange transport to/from the course there too. We had a rental car, so didn't use that though.

Some of the courses were busy so pre-booking is probably a good idea. Abama in particular since it mainly caters to guests staying at the resort.

We were there end of November/start of December and the courses were all in good shape. Some were quite busy, but luckily not too much waiting and slow play.

I'll post some pics from Gran Canaria in a few days.

Hurraah, those look amazing! Hope I can someday golf that trip, would have to up our budget somewhat though. Yeah I also like to golf as many different courses as possible on trips, and still would, but from playing perspective it is nice to get to play 2nd and 3rd on same course too. Not that it helped much haha. My friends are not as usa-phil as I am so we decided against Florida. I will need to golf there some time in the future though.

In the end we decided on Gran Canaria. The weather should be just perfect at the beginning of April. We are still debating on whether to go for a nice hotel (sheraton), a somewhat cheaper one with all inclusive or just rent a place on airbnb. There definitely are enough options.

Great pics from teneriffe etc. Makes me think we made the right choice.

Cool - I'm sure you'll love Gran Canaria for both golf and other stuff.

Two must-play courses there are Anfi Tauro which is a resort-course with a lot of pretty spectacular holes. You get a great view of the course from some of the higher tees.
Make sure you go to the 'big' course though as they also have a par-3 course on the way and it's easy to mistake one for the other. The par 3 one is fun to play also though if you have the time.





Second one is Lopesan Meloneras - especially the back 9 here that go along the coast are amazing. Definitely my favourite on GC.




We also played Real Club de golf which is the oldest course in Spain - it's situated high up and has some nice views on some of the holes, but we found it very difficult with lots of narrow fairways and not a lot of margin for error.

Also played Maspalomas (which was pretty fun) and Salobre which has two courses and I can't remember which one we played. It was fine, but not as spectacular as some of the others.

We stayed in Playa Del Ingles which is close to most of the courses and was a nice place to stay - very touristy but of course that also means a lot of restaurants, bars and other activities. If you're looking for something more quiet, then Puerto Mogan is a very nice place with a great scenic drive to and from if you go by the coastal road instead of the motorway. Definitely worth a visit if you don't stay there.
