I think Sergio only has 3 or 4 PGA wins. For active I'd vote for Kenny Perry. I think he has 8 wins.

I think John Cook also has a bunch of wins without a major, but he's on the Champions Tour now so I'm not sure he counts.

K.J. Choi has 6 or 7 wins?

All wrong so far.

Hint: the correct answer has 10 PGA tour wins.

Well I suspect it's gonna be some old guy because he said "active". That doesn't mean said player is still in the top tier of golfers. Although I think he means they are still playing on the big tour, as Sr. Tour players probably don't count as active for the purposes of this discussion.

Just rambling...I have no clue as of yet.

2nd hint: in 2005 he set the all time PGA Tour 72-hole putting record with 92 putts at the MCI Heritage

3rd hint: his last PGA tour win came in 1997.

said player does not qualify based on age to play on the Sr. Tour.

Does Frost have exempt status on tour currently?

I have to say there was no way I would have gotten David Frost, even after the RSA clue. At least I was right about him being an old guy.

Per OPs rules it appears that it is oT's turn.

I don't know any cool golf trivia.

Assuming the honor system, give the modern counterpart to the "classical" name.

1) Spoon
2) Mashie
3) Niblick
4) Mashie-Niblick

(I expect HDPM to win in a walk here...)

One of these is incorrect (based on the 4-5 sources I looked at to verify definitions - he didn't say we couldn't look up questions right? )

the niblick would technically be a 9 iron? They didn't have the name 'pitching wedge' back when these foolish words were used if I'm not mistaken.

Nice little clue in there with the term "encyclopedic knowledge".

The answer is Ben Crenshaw who is one of the top golf historians in the world, not just the PGA Tour.
