the canadian/british open in the same year is the way they conned tiger woods into playing the canadian open in 2000. i'm glad he played though, as i saw him live go 6-under over 4 consecutive holes.

Jim Thorpe. He once said in an interview in typical Thorpie fashion that he didn't care that he lost the playoff. He just wanted the 1st place check!

Since it was requested, let's dust off this thread after over six years!

This week is the first WGC event of 2015, Tiger has won a whopping 18 WGC events since they started in 1999. Who is second on that list having won three WGC events?

Poulter or Ogilvy.

Given Poulter's collapse this week, I'm going to punt for Ogilvy.

Gotta be Ogilvy. He won the match play twice and the Amex I think.

Geoff Ogilvy is correct.

Another trivia question:

Who was the winner and loser in the most lopsided final of the PGA Championship when it was contested as match-play?

Know that "Little Poison" Paul Runyon crushed Sam Snead one year. Stories say Snead was driving it 70-80 yards past Runyon but just got destroyed.

Yessir! Runyon told that story for decades afterward in his coaching lessons (importance of short game, etc.).

Maybe these are too easy for you guys.

Who was the first man to reach ten under par in a U.S. Open tournament?

Gil Morgan. Got to -12 at Pebble in 1992. Already been discussed way upthread many years ago!

If you're interested, there were a ton of good questions asked and answered here, go back and take a look. Some easy, some nasty.

Alright, I have reviewed the previous posts in the thread. Here's a slightly harder question that I don't think has been asked:

Name the two men who led the PGA tour in money winnings in a season during the 1960s besides Palmer, Nicklaus, or Player.

Interesting.... I certainly can't be positive here, but I'd bet one of them has to be Billy Casper. The other... maybe Gene Littler? He also won a ton of tournaments.

As munis in the area go, it's a pretty good one.

I don't know the answer to this, but has there ever been two albatrosses in the same tournament before? My head says no, but not sure.

I cant remember which tournaments, but I think they put up a screen shot showing 5 other tourneys with two albatrosses. One was a British Open.

If you don't look up the answer, this might be a tough one:

Since the World Golf Rankings started in 1986, only 4 Americans have held the number 1 ranking. Tiger Woods and David Duval are two of them. The other two Americans are...........

Fred Couples the year he won the Masters and Tom Lehman for a grand total of one week!

For sports trivia purposes I learned all the #1's about 10 years ago when there were only 12. Since Tiger's fall am pretty sure there have been 5 more. Donald, Kaymer, Westwood, McIlroy and Scott.

The 12 were easy to learn, just break them down into groups, 4 US, 2 UK, 2 Europe, 2 Africa, 2 Oceania, just imagine them on a world map. If you know the breakdown, it's pretty simple to build the list.

Sorry, I just got back to this thread. Yes, Billy Casper and Frank Beard were the two other golfers who led the PGA tour in a season's money earnings during the 1960s (besides Palmer, Nicklaus, and Player).

Another medium difficult question:

Name the U.S. born golfer who played his entire career on the U.S. PGA tour after the advent of the Ryder Cup in 1927 who has the most U.S. PGA tour victories without ever playing in any Ryder Cup event.
