Looking at playing Vistancia with ec_outlaw on Sunday ~10am. We haven't booked it yet, anybody interested in joining us? We're flexible on times.

US open this weekend...and Sunday is a no chance for me. Father's Day gunna cook a bomb dinner for my dad and be glued to the couch for every shot on Sunday

Yeah, I'd really like for 2014 to be the year we actually make good on a golf meetup, but Sunday is just the wrong day for it as durango noted.

You realize it's FATHER'S DAY, not MOTHER'S DAY, right?

For some reason many fathers seem handcuffed on Father's Day and aren't able to do things. Seems super ******ed - it's YOUR day yet you have to do what OTHER people want you to do. I have friends who are unable to watch the final day of the Open with me because it will upset their family. wtf?

My Dad passed 5 years ago, and my wife and kids are always out of town over Fathers Day on their annual "girls week at the beach" in NC with my mom, sister, and some other ladies. When I was in NC, me and buddy would always plan a trip to Atlantic City over Fathers Day weekend. But I don't have enough free time to be able to do that now.

So yeah, I don't get too involved with Fathers Day stuff since it's always just me at the house. But I can understand the family time part of it. But you're right Tuq. If there's one day of the year that screams "go golfing Dad", you'd think it would be Fathers Day. Butnah. Doesn't work out that way.

I prefer to take the opposite approach. I do whatever I want on all the other days when I'd like. Do the family thing on special days.

Every day is my day.

Finally getting out to play tomorrow for the first time since early December. Got a 3:30 tee time at Trilogy at Vistancia with Josh. We're hoping the course will be pretty empty so we don't have any trouble getting through 18 before dark. Also hoping to take advantage of their $1 beers. Since it's been 6 months since I've played, I'm setting my over/under line at 84.5....depending on what tee boxes Josh makes me play. Hopefully he takes it easy on us.

It's just the 2 of us, so if anyone can get free tomorrow and want's to join us, we have the room. And at $20 it's a hard value to beat.

Played with ec_outlaw yesterday at Vistancia for $20. The course is a good bargain for $20 absolutely.

We got along pretty well and had a great time. I haven't played while that medicated and drunk in quite some time.

Would do it again.

medicated and drunk ftw! Yeah Vistancia is a true bargain in the summer and $1 beers on the bev cart is so refreshing instead of $5-$6 a piece.

I really like the layout of that course and think it's very fair. You definitely have to gear back on a bunch of holes and hit 3 wood/iron to keep it in the fairway. Back 6-7 years ago that course was really tough with all of the festcue (sp)/native grass along the fairway. It's still there but nothing like it used to be. Does anyone remember Kierland back about a decade ago with that stuff everywhere and you could lose your ball like a yard off the fairway routinely???

Yeah I have played there before and posted some pics ITT I believe.

It's a real fun and fair desert course. The houses around the course are nothing short of small hotels. Different world up there...although it's just above DC ranch so it's not far from mid Scottsdale at all

silverleaf was a blast yesterday. we decided to put our egos aside and play one tee up so the black tees which I think measured about 7000 yards total which was perfect for our group.

I think they had done some aerification on fairways/tees a week or two earlier but it didn't really affect the play much...just played a simple bump in the fairways if you were in a small plug hole which never really happened so no biggie

ended up shooting a solid 36-40 for 76 which was about the worst I could possibly shoot. Hit driver/3 wood perfect basically all day and never even came close to hitting a ball in the desert which was a pretty solid accomplishment for me.

Highlight of the day was my buddy making an ace on #16....playing about 175 yards a little downwind...8 iron, flew it directly into the cup for his 2nd career ace. Pretty sick place to get an ace!

see below for a few pics...grass doesn't look nearly as pretty as in the winter obv but it played really well and greens were quick and true. also, some obligatory pics of some of the houses up there

Played talking stick north today...definitely in real nice shape. The south is closed for punching but should be back open soon.

Played really solid today hitting my driver deep off the tee so lots of short irons into greens which was nice. Also chipped it in twice to offset a stupid OB ball on #2.

Ended up shooting +2 which I will take basically any day

Anybody played Desert Highlands before? How did you like it? I get to play it later this summer- really looking forward to it. Looks like a beast in great condition based on the course tour I looked through online.

Also- we should do a 2p2 group outing somewhere this summer. A lot of nice courses can be had for cheap. Anyone interested?

Playing quite a bit lately.

Papago - We went on like a Wednesday after work. This was a pretty big mistake. Got caught behind the "First Tee" program so a bunch of little kids walking which is great, but the proshop didn't inform us of them and their instructor failed to let us play through. After waiting 20 minutes on the second tee, we had to skip 3 holes just to pass all of the groups. Then we ran into another group who had no idea we were behind them and were hacking away/looking for their balls in the desert every hole. I probably won't be playing here again any time soon. The course was in fine shape.

Karsten - Hard to beat this for $20 bucks right now. Playing solo, finished the front 9 in an hour but got caught up behind some groups and ended playing about a 3.5 hour round. Still not bad for after work. Finally broke into the 80s though, shot an 89!

McCormick Palm - Played the Pine a few weeks ago so I wanted to try this out. Had fun but it was $40 and I think there are better deals out there right now.
