Bears' Best
TPC
Bali Hai
Royal Links

Bring lots of balls to Cascata! Hardest course in the Las Vegas area.

I've only played a few courses in the Vegas area, luckily one of them being Cascata. But it's significantly easier than TPC Las Vegas. Greens might be faster at Cascata, but it's much easier to score.

I'll second Royal Links, it's well manicured, a great track. And significantly easier than your typical desert course. Wide landing areas.

Rio Secco is a great track as well.

Hmmm...I don't find the TPC that difficult

The issue I had with TPC LV (note: not Summerlin) was that for the average golfer the fairways are pinched too much by the canyons. Just tough when an average golfer is losing a dozens balls per round in the rocks. But the greens are significantly flatter and slower than Cascata.

However, if one plays there all the time he's not near as visually intimidated by this. But a first-timer would be.

I just think a course with nice transition areas like Rio Secco is more friendly to golfers of all abilities.

YMMV.

Reflection Bay is awesome. Outside of Wolf Creek it was my favorite that I've played.

Very spendy though. I was looking for a round there this Saturday and saw $250. Ouch. Ended up booking Revere for $76. Obviously not apple to apples, but I have a tough time spending that amount on a course.

Love dragon ridge. Not really deserty style course, thicker rough which I enjoy.

Bo my guess is Dominic played tpc Vegas from the one ups, it is straight nasty from the tips.

wth is Dragon Ridge? I've never even heard of it.

I've played both TPCs, I assumed we were talking about Summerlin...good course, but not difficult to score on. There are a couple of holes that have some tough tee shots, though. The 3rd hole especially.

Edit: okay, I just looked at some photos of Dragon Ridge, and I've actually played there before a few years ago...not sure why I've never been back...

Hey guys, I live in Henderson. I'm thinking about getting back into golf. I'm looking for a mid to low level cheap course I can possibly look at a membership for. Just something I can casually walk 9 holes on in the morning a few days a week. Any recommendations?

Never played it but you may want to consider an executive course like Desert Willow.

Hey guys, I live in vegas, have a low handicapper buddy of mine coming out. Is it worth it to play a different course in the mesquite area when we go out to wolf creek or play 36 at wolf creek? Thanks

Think we have a pretty strong schedule of golf for 4 days

Saturday- Chimera and then got a great deal at Desert Pines seems like a good warm up day for my friend

Sunday- Probably going to play 27, maybe 36 if we fly at Revere Lexington

Monday- Wolf Creek, hopefully 36

Tuesday- not sure yet, Paiute Wolf is my favorite regular course so that is possible, maybe bears best or bali hai if I can find a more reasonable price (i havent played either yet)

Quick review of having my buddy in town

Chimera- one of the best deals for golf in town, fun fair course in great shape (putts don't break as much as they appear)

Desert Pines- Everything was just ok, the greens could be in better shape, and the layout is substandard for a Pete Dye course

Revere Lexington- really enjoyed this course. It is a canyon course that is in good shape and while I think a few of the driving holes are a little gimmicky (you can hit some good drives into the desert if you pick incorrectly between driver and 3wood), it was a really fun course with the best views I have seen of the Vegas strip in the background. The way they framed a few of the tee boxes and especially the green on 17 was fantastic.

Wolf Creek- have to say I was let down by this course. It is actually remarkably similar to Revere Lexington with it being a dramatically canyon course. It was in great shape, greens rolled true, but I actually was a little disappointed by the layout. Only 1 of the 4 par 3s was memorable, 9 and 18 were a clear afterthought, and I just thought that for the money and drive it really wasn't worth it. IMO, if you are looking for a nice canyon course play Revere for half the money or better.

Snow Mountain- First time playing anything other than Wolf at Paiute. I think the greens are being prepared to be treated so they were bumpy and sandy and I am sure normally not like that. I didn't like the layout quite as much as Wolf, but very good value.

Wolf- I think this remains my favorite non casino Vegas course. The layout is challenging but fair, it is always in really good shape, and is fantastic value. The four times I have been to Paiute, the wind has always been a huge factor. If you hit a high ball like I do, it will really test you (I was clubbing up or down 3 clubs, and if I did not compress the ball it was scary as hell)

Throughout the four days I played like total garbage, feel like I just need a week reset of golf, but it was a lot of fun and I think these are honest reviews despite my poor play.

Hey,

There are 4 of us staying in Monte Carlo 1st - 8th June. We would like to play Bali Hai (ideally 2nd June, earliest start). I believe that as an MGM property they can provide bookings to those who are splashing a lot on table games.

However, we will just be battling in the 1/3 / 2/5 holdem streets ... not in Monte Carlo - so of no interest to the hotel as such.

I would really appreciate any thoughts on how best / cheapest way to go about booking Bali Hai?

Call the Monte Carlo and ask how much a tee time at Bali Hai is for guests, compare that to the rates on golfnow.com.

One thing about Golf Now is the deals are not like they used top be. Last couple years they have been not that great at all

Golf Now sucks. You get the same deals by calling the course directly, and you don't have to pay the Golf Now surcharge.
