If you're just there for 3 days and for someone's birthday party and you're the only one wanting to play, i'd def just party.

Not as bad as usual. It's almost always windy out there to some degree. I'd say 5-10mph, no more than a club length on most holes, maybe a hair more than that in our face coming home on 17 and 18. I'd say overall pretty standard and not too bad.

So just got back from Vegas where PH comped us at Rio Secco on Friday and Cascata on Saturday. I had never heard of these courses and all I can say is wow! Cascata is one of the most amazing tracks I have ever played and can only imagine the look once the winter grass is gone..Rio Secco kicked my ass as I was spraying a bit on the front nine but picked it up on the back. Saw Ebays boss's 66.000sf mansion and Frank Thomas and Floyd Mayweathers house...sick sick properties...and the wierd thing is we saw no one enjoying the yards just the odd gardener...no kids....no life of any sort was kinda different.

i played cascata last week as well the service there was unbelievable its the manderian oriental of golf course , it was by far the toughest greens i have ever played and ive played every course in vegas besides shadow creek and the wynn...paiute did get rid of their gps which makes it stupid to play there the only other place with the sweet gps is bears best and they have a deal right now whatever the high temperature is say its 62 that will be the cost of the round

We are coming out for a pro-am in a couple weeks and one of the courses is Royal Links. It's the only one in our rotation that I haven't played. What can I expect? I've heard conditions are sometimes so so, anyone played there recently?

First of all, excuse my ignorance. I have never played golf ever. Im now at a point in my life where i have enough free time to possibly learn the game. Im a very athletic guy who used to play soccer and football. Im wonder awhat my best line would be starting from square 1. I dont owe a set of clubs but am willing to buy..hopefully a salesman wont upsell me with stuff im not good enough to use. My parents are buying a house on a golf course and i will be able to golf for very cheap/frequently. It sucks to be "that guy" that slows down everyone elses fun but i have to start somewhere. If anyone has any advice i would definately appreciate it. PM me and thanks again guys.

I would borrow some old clubs or just get a buddy to give you some old ones. If you have no one that can lend or give you some old clubs go buy some dirt cheap used clubs. You can buy clubs made 3-5 years ago for very little money. If you spend $100 on your set you spent too much unless the money is absolutely not an issue in which case just buy whatever you like.

royal links is pretty sweet IMO. Almost all of the holes are remakes of famous links style holes overseas. Conditions were good when I played and I enjoyed it as a change of pace to the normal desert/resort course.

Hello,

A quick bit of advice. I am heading to Vegas for a few days in a few weeks. I like good golf courses that are more than just superficial waterfalls. I am travelling from overseas so want to see something reasonably good, cheap and unique.

I have on my list:
Pauite
Wolf Creek
Primm Valley
Bali Hai (cheap afternoon rate)

Anything else I should consider.

Thanks.

Pauite is three courses Wolf is the nicest
Wolf Creek is a MUST If you could only play one course this is the one
Primm Valley played lakes and loved it

Tuscany and Sienna also favorites as well as TPC

Were flying in on April 6th also for 6 rounds in 4 days

I prefer Pauite Snow course, but both Snow and Wolf are nice, very different though. Wolf is just super long with tough greens, Snow had more varied holes imo and I liked the water hazards that were more incorporated into the holes, not sure there is a single hole with water on Wolf.

I really liked Bear's Best, and I like the Red Rock course (arroyo I think is the name?)

hmmm have to say I'm not impressed with golfnow. Last November we booked through the hotel concierge and got a better deal and yesterday I phoned the course and got a substantially better deal $75 direct vs $105 on golfnow.

There's a Michael Jordan celebrity event this weekend at Shadow Creek that is open to the public. I believe you can buy tickets at Aria.

So back from 4 days. Saw Sleet/snow Saturday on our way to Pauitte and Sunday a frost delay at badlands

Played Badlands two days at 8:00 AM for $48 a round Great shape
Tuscany $43.00 at 8:00 AM Great shape very cool course was empty
Played Pauitte Snow course 12:30 for $60 greens were top dressed.

All rounds booked through Golf Now. Also I used Golf Clubs Away as my clubs were in storage. Great service they were at my hotel the night before and I left them with the bell hop when I left. Nice clubs also and $12 cheaper than renting at the course
